"So it seems. Her head is on his shoulder, and they're looking at the moon together...I'm taking it as a good thing. What exactly did you say to her?" Gabby shrugged.
"Just kinda that when people fight, they don't mean what they say...usually. Something to that effect." He nodded again. Lily turned to look back at the approaching Matt and Gabby. Gabby waved at Lily. Lily waved back, then leaned her head on Jeff's shoulder again. Gabby sat down beside Lily and Jeff, pulling Matt with her. Matt sat with Gabby.
"Everything fine?" Gabby whispered to Lily.
"Yeah I think so..." Lily whispered back.
"You think so? That’s all?"
"Yes...everything’s fine." Lily sighed and lie back in the sand, propping herself up on her elbows. "So...any body have plans?"
"Well...its getting kinda late out. We've been here aaaaall day."
"Yeah...I've noticed. Sunburn....we're all going to have sunburn. Especially poor Matt....I told him he shouldn't have laid out in the sun that long. But he doesn't listen," Lily said.
"I do so! I just planned on flipping...and then forgot," he admitted sheepishly.
"I better not have sunburn..." Gabby complained.
"We had wet-suits on. We'll be fine," Lily assured her.
"We better be." Jeff and Matt started to sing "Surfer Girl" by the Beach Boys. Lily giggled. Gabby put her hand to her forehead. "This is uncalled for."
"It's cute though." They stop and pout. "See what you did?"
"I didn't mean to." She poked Matt. "Don't pout."
"You didn't like my singing?" he asked childishly.
"It was...what’s the word I want...interesting?"
"Yeah sure. You just don't want me to cry."
"Of course I don't want you to cry." She sighed. "Fine. Sing some more."
"No...no I'm done now. So is Jeff....that was a one time only deal." He smiled and kissed her forehead. "So no more...too bad."
"Aw, why no more singing? It wasn't that bad."
"Cause I don't feel like singing."
"Fair enough. You can sing later."
"Okay..." he said.
"Hey Lily...is it okay if I poof Edge and Christian away? You won't miss them a lot or anything, will you?"
"No....I won't....actually...as a matter of fact...I'll help..."
"No...I can do it myself. But thanks."
"Okie." Lily looked around and then poofed a radio and a small tent-like covering with a hardwood floor. Small white lanterns were lit around the perimeter of the tent. Lily poofed on some good music and dragged Jeff off the floor.
"Come dance," Matt commanded.
"Do I hafta?" Gabby asked. Matt grabbed her hand.
"Come on...it'll be fun..." he promised. Gabby shrugged, standing up.
"Sure." Lily put on "Zoot Suit Riot" and began to swing dance with Jeff. "Oh, now that, I don't do." Lily and Jeff did some over the head flips and around the back moves. "Show offs," Gabby muttered under her breath. Matt grabbed her waist and tossed you up into the air. He caught her and put her back on the floor.
"Think we can show them up?" Matt asked. gabby glared playfully at him.
"Warn me next time you decide to do that."
"Here's your warning," he said, doing it again. Gabby squealed as he caught her.
"Enough!" she cried. Matt sat down on the floor. Beside them, Lily and Jeff collapsed on the floor. She sat down with Matt. "See, you guys work yourselves to hard."
"We had fun...I don't know about you Miss "I can't dance I might make a fool of myself," Lily taunted.
"Hey! I had fun. I surfed today. That was enough fun for me."
"We surfed AND danced...so there," Jeff flaunted.
"Well, I made a new friend so THERE." Lily smiled.
"So you did...I'm proud of you." Gabby smiled back.
"Thank you. Dunno why in the hell I waited so long though," Gabby said.
"Hey...did I not tell you the same thing a week ago or so?" Lily grabbed Matt's hand and dragged him up to dance. "I'll dance with Matt, since you're afraid to make a fool of yourself."
"Fine. I'll just stay here," Gabby pouted. Jeff grabbed her hand and pulled her up.
"Let's go," Jeff commanded. Gabby laughed.
"Seems like a fair trade."
"If I can teach her, I can teach you. You just have to trust me. Matt can't teach...he doesn't feel safe doing the flips and stuff unless his partner knows what they're doing....so I'll teach you."
"Yeah, that didn't stop him from tossing me up in the air."
"That's easy though," Jeff explained. He tossed her up and caught her. "See?"
"Still made me wanna puke."
"I can do it too. It takes no skill....it's an easy thing."
"Gee, I noticed."
"Do you really want to learn, or no...cause I can just put on some non-swing music if you’d rather."
"Teach me, oh wise one," Gabby said.
"All right...here we go." He grabbed both of her hands. "I'm going to teach you the slide...okay?
"Okaaaaay...is it easy?" Gabby asked. Jeff picked her off the ground lightly and slid her between his open feet and then back up. He looked at her.
"You tell me."
"That was pretty easy. Geez, do I even have to do anything?"
"Yeah....hold on. And don't let go." Lily scuttled over to the CD player and put "Jump Jive and Wail" on.
"I can do that. I'm well adept at doing that." Lily ran back over to Matt and started swinging. Jeff looks at Gabby.
"Just hang on and don't get scared."
"Me? Scared? Nah."
"You'll get the "swing" of it quickly," he said with a sheepish grin. Gabby shook her head with a smile.
"Jeff, that was sad." Matt started to swing with her, doing the easy toss in the air thing. Gabby continued holding on. Jeff swung her around his back and then between his feet. "This ain't hard..." Jeff tossed her in a spiral in the air. He caught her. "Why does everything involve throwing me?" Jeff clapped as the song ended.
"Very good....see? If I had tried to explain it to you, you wouldn't have understood."
"That was good?"
"You think I'm just flipping you? Did you see me flipping Lily before? Yes...for a first time..."
"I'll get better. I always do."
"So I've heard," Jeff muttered. "What shall we listen to next?"
"Wait...what’s that supposed to mean?" Gabby asked. Lily came skipping over to join the two, followed by Matt. "I still like moshing better."
"Matt told me...remember surfing? You did better the second time then the first time," Jeff said. Gabby shrugged.
"Okay, what should I put on?" When all she got were shrugs, Lily put on "Rollin" by Limp Bizkit and did the Fred dance. Gabby turned up her nose and went to sit down. Lily stopped and laughed at herself. "What should I put on? Seriously."
"Hmm...do you still wanna dance, or just chill?"
"I don't care..."
"Deftones?"
"I'm not a big fan of the Deftones," Lily said, putting on "Betterman." Jeff and Matt started singing. "Van Halen!" Lily cried, being struck with an idea.
"Uuhh-huuuuh." Lily put on "Dance the Night Away" by Van Halen and grabbed Jeff's hand. Matt walked over to her.
"Can I have this dance?" he asked. She grinned.
"I dunno, can you?"
"Technically I can..." he said with a smile. "May I have this dance?" he said, correcting his former question. Gabby nodded, taking his hand.
"But of course." Lily put the song on from the beginning one last time. Matt smiled and started to dance with Gabby. Lily and Jeff smiled at each other and joined Matt and Gabby. Matt started to sing to her as they danced, half laughing. Gabby smiled, resting her head on Matt's shoulder.
"Look at your brother and Gabby....they look so cute," Lily whispered to Jeff. He smiled and nods his head.
"Yeah...they do," he whispered back.
"I think they're talking about us," Gabby whispered into Matt’s ear.
"Let ‘em talk," he replied, whispering back. "Thank you for that dance."
"My pleasure."
"What should we do now? I think I'm danced out for the night," Matt said.
"I'm tiiiired," Gabby whined.
"Me too," Matt said.
"Wanna go back home?" Gabby asked. Lily and Jeff walked over, holding hands.
"What is the game plan you two? What's going on?"
"Whaddya mean 'going on'?" Gabby asked.
"I meant what is happening...you know...the equivalent of ‘What's up’?" he said.
"Yeah yeah. We wanna go home," Gabby said.
"Yeah sure...I know why...heh," Jeff commented. Jeff grinned evilly and Lily poofed the two of them to the barn before Gabby and Matt could say or do anything.
"He'll get it...don't worry," Matt promised.
"He's annoying."
"Yeah...he is."
"Well...shall we go back?" Gabby asked.
"Sure," Matt said. Gabby poofed them back to the barn. Lily sat in the loft, swinging her legs back and forth next to Jeff.
"What took you so long?" Jeff asked. Gabby glared up at him. Jeff smirked. "Don't ya love me?" Gabby rolled her eyes.
"I'm beginning to ask myself that same question."
"Hey!" Jeff cried, hurt. Matt walked in from outside of the barn.
"Look...it's snowing again."
"Really? Cool." Jeff climbed down the stairs and headed outside, grabbing a few logs and tossing them in the fireplace. Lily climbed down and sat beside him before the fire, poking it with the poker.
