ANARCHY IN SWEDEN FLAG JOHN LOOKING AT HIS OWN REFLECTION
These black and white photos were taken in the Old Town (Gamla Stan) part of STOCKHOLM on Thursday, July 28 1977.
John is wearing a leather jacket with a denim west and a denim cap. Probably as a bit of a disguise because of the problem with RAGGARE in Sweden.
RAGGARE were, and still are, Sweden's answer to England's Teddy Boys and the USA's rednecks. Think the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE FAMILY dressed up like ELVIS PRESLEY and riding around in an all chrome CADILLAC looking for a young punkette on her own to beat up. Most PUNKS in Sweden were around 15 and the RAGGARE were at least 10 years older.
After the gig at STUDENT KÅREN on the 28th a gang of Raggare cornered some young girls who came out from the show. The girls had safety pins through their cheeks and the Raggare ripped them right through their faces. The band was upstairs drinking beer when they heard about it. Sid wanted to go down and fight the bastards and someone else suggested that they should get the limousine and ram them down. In the end the gig organiser just called the cops.

JOHN SAYS ''NO PHOTOGRAPHERS''

The guy Sid is intimidating is the owner of Stockholm's only Punk boutique at the time, SUICIDE. He followed the band around and tried to get them to wear his gear. The band spent the afternoon in the shop signing autographs and trying on clothes. The shop had ordered a new leather jacket specially for Sid which Sid immediately hated and declared "Poxy, vile, corny and twee".
John found a pair of leopard-skin-topped shoes in the shop (''They're really horrible, I must have them, I could start another absurd trend'').
With the shop owner and his girlfriend were their neighbour's two really young kids. Sid spent a lot of time with them during the day and when they had lo leave he gave one of them his favourite t-shirt.
SID SAYS ''GET A HAIRCUT, PUNK''
BAD BOYS BOOTLEG LP SID AND JOHN LIVE KÅREN STHLM JULY 28 1977 SID LIVE KÅREN STHLM JULY 28 1977 JOHN AND SID LIVE KÅREN STHLM JULY 28 1977 *TRIVIA UPDATE*
Suicide Shop owner was Totte Dellert, son of Swedish opera diva Kerstin Dellert, and the singer with The MOB when they performed on Swedish TV in 1977.
It was the father of NOMADS' guitarist Hasse who made the 16mm film and supplied the tape for the BAD BOYS LP, made by ''Tummen'', manager of punk band The ASS.
Trivia info from Janne, member of the now long gone Swedish RawPunk band ALBYL.

There were two night at Student Kåren. The first was for over 23's only and the second for 15 years old and over.

THURSDAY JULY 28 1977
Second night. This gig was recorded both on tape for a radio broadcast and on 16mm film.
The bootleg LP ''BAD BOYS'' (PECCA records matrix no:BB77) was made in a limited edition of a 1000 copies. It features all songs except No Feelings and No Fun.
The film has never been officially released but plans for this was made in the mid 80's when VIRGIN Video actually had it listed as 'forthcoming', with a cat no and the title BAD BOYS IN SWEDEN. There's a short clip from this one in THE FILTH AND THE FURY movie.
There's a bootleg video tape also called THE FILTH AND THE FURY (Thunderbird Vision cat no:TV1) with Anarchy in the UK, I wanna be me, Seventeen, New York, Problems and No Fun on it. Although the picture quality ain't the best possible this video tape is definitely worth getting. You just can't get any better than this version of New York with John looking like a maniac and Sid spitting into the camera. Sid played really well on this tour, it was only on the US Jan 1978 tour that he didn't. The band seemed to enjoy themselves and both Steve and Paul were fucking great too!

The next day the played their last show on the Scandinavian tour at the club SEAGULL in LINKÖPING, SWEDEN.

SET PLAYED SECOND NIGHT:
  • Anarchy in the UK
  • I wanna be me
  • Seventeen
  • New York
