The William Glasser Institute |
The Institute, a non-profit educational institution, was founded in 1967 by Dr William Glasser, lecturer, author and board-certified psychiatrist. It was formed as a response to the requests of human service professionals for formal training in Dr Glasser's counseling method, Reality Therapy. In 1994, The Institute was renamed The Institite for Control Theory, Reality Therapy and Quality Management to reflect the scope of the Institite's teachings. Two years later it became The William Glasser Institute, and Dr Glasser renamed his theory, CHOICE THEORY.
Since 1967, more than 45,000 people - among them educators, clinicians and managers - have completed the intensive introductory course in reality therapy. And, of course, more than 5,000 have gone on to complete the training process leading to Reality Therapy Certiciation by the Institute.
Though reality therapy was born in the United States, the activities are now truly international. Dr Glasser's books have been translated into seven major languages, and Institite-approved training has taken place in more than 14 different nations around the globe.
