We are honoured to have in the studio mr nicky wire and james dean bradfield from the manic street preachers.

Thankyou for coming down chaps, how are you this morning.

N: dragged out of bed, I'm sure you can tell by the state of us. Compared to all these beautiful people in here.

Next week you're playing a gig in cuba, the first western band to play there. Why choose cuba.

N: It's just a bit of a gesture really there's a lot of references on the album to cuba and it's just the only country left that fights against the tide of americanisation.

I heard about the price of the tickets, what's the price of the tickets? N: 7 pence. About as much as it costs to get in here.

Why are you releasing two seperate singles on the same day instead of a double a side like everybody else does?

J: we didn't feel as if one song would be representative of the great wide scope of the album so to speak, one single would have just been really unrepresentative of the album, so we just went for the two, we've always liked grand gestures.

No-body else has done it before have they?

J: Lush (?) did it. N: and throbbing gristle, one went in 62 and the other went up at 88.

What would you rather have a number one single or wales beat england...

N: Wales beat england.

Really? N: I'm sorry about that but unfortunately it looks like it's 10 years away at the moment.

You've worked with Kylie Minogue in the past, this is to James, did you fancy her.

J: it was unfortunate that we were recording in the middle of the summer so she'd come in in these kind of halter tops... and kind of like I used to come in in these horrible army fatigues and just beard and beans and chips down my beard so all I could think about at the time was there's no way this'll ever happen... but yeah course I did.

Yeah everybody does don't they... there's something wrong with you if you don't (she's horrible - me)

Have you tried anything different on the new album Know Your Enemy?

N: yeah we tried lots of different things I sing for a start which is very very different when you hear it you'll realise what I mean, and James wrote some lyrics and Sean got his trumpet back out, it's just completely different to the last record.

Nicky is wearing a really nice light blue top with a musical note and the words rock 'n' roll.
