INTRODUCTION

This Local was founded on February 1, 1945 and is broken into six units :

1. The Summerside Electrical Utility
2. Inside Construction
3. Maritime Electric
4. Outside Construction (Linesmen other than Maritime Electric)
5. UPEI
6. Summerside Clerical

The Local sports an estimated total membership of 270 members with the Inside Construction Unit having about 100 members.

This website will be pretty much concentrating on the activities of the Inside Construction Unit due to the fact that I belong to that Unit of the Local, but if any other Unit wants to be included just get in touch with the Business office and let them know what you want to include.

The Current Officers of the Local are:

The Inside Construction Unit has a proud tradition on PEI of providing Island electricians with well paying work and has been involved with most of the biggest projects on PEI including:

• The new Prince County Hospital
• The new UPEI Rink
• The Fixed Link which during its peak was considered one of the largest projects in the world.
• The GST Center in Summerside
• The Confederation Center
• The Provincial Buildings
• The Queen Elizabeth Hospital
• Cavendish Farms
• The Charlottetown Civic Center
