The human hair used in manufacturing other than remi hair is not handled root end first , this causes the cuticle of the hair shaft to become tangled, to compensate for this,, the hair recieves an acid bath which almost completely strips the hair shaft of cuticle, leaving the hair shaft much weaker and easily broken. BUT in a short time the remaining cuticle springs up and since they are going in every direction, soon they are tangled, matted and prone to breakage.
