In Fairmount Park near the Schuylkill Falls is Fonthill Mansion ,the first owner of Fonthill was Revolutionary War hero Thomas Mifflin, his wife tragicaly went mad, her mental state eroding steadily until her death, it was not long after that, reports were written that told of seeing her ghost walking the halls of Fonthill and the surrounding roads.

Calvin Jones of Brewerytown told us this story; "Me and my boys used to go up there near that mansion and park my car and have a few beers and talk, especialy on a hot summer night, you get some cool breezes off the large field that is up there,. One night we were in my car as usual and we noticed strange lights coming from the mansion, I don't think anyone even lives there, all of a sudden we see somebody dressed in white, its a woman ** and she seems to be gliding on air, its like she just flowed down those front steps.

I'm not afraid of a woman, you know what I mean, but when you can see right through her and she is coming straight towards you, I am not ashamed to admit, I almost wet my trousers !. I was so scared that when I went to start the car, I dropped my keys and in the darkness and I could not find them, we all got out of that car and just ran like crazy !, I was still afraid the next day to go up there and get my car, even in the daylight, theres something strange about that area, I am not going up there anymore!"
