The Afrikania In brief

Afrikania is a concept of life and more importantly, a spiritual revolution that aims at creating a new world order based on Amen-ra, positive consciencism and spiritual equilibrium. It is called Afrikania because it is rooted in the Afrikan experience. Its foundation and its goal is the creator. It is the restructuring of the Afrikan traditional concept which is the first recorded religion of mankind and the mother of all religions.

This Afrikan environment is the father of science, the cradle of civilization and the place where man first saw light. The Afrikan heritage is a gift for the whole world, after all the races of the world spring from the afrikan race, which began in east Afrika. The experience gained over the years, taught mankind the virtues of love, faith, prudence, justice, courage, temperance, honesty, good citizenship and above all; nation building as a spiritual duty. This is the Afrikan concept. It is neither fetish, pagan, idolatrous animism, ancestor worship, or superstition, but an honest approach to Amen-ra and we are proud to improve upon it for the benefit of Afrika and all mankind.

This divine ideology spread along the source of the Nile Kush-Ethiopia and finally Kemet--Egypt. Kemet means land of the black. The inhabitants of this land called themselves Kemites which means " The Black People". Afrikania is not a new concept; it is the rebirth revival and reorganization of the Afrikan traditional religion, so that it can contribute effectively toward human development for the glory of the creator.

Osofo (which means priest) okomfo Dr. Kwabena Damuah told the world after 25 years of priestly service in the Roman Catholic Church, on the 22nd December1982, that the Afrikan Traditional Religion is as god as any other religion if not better. He stated that it is the duty of the Afrikan to study it, promote it and revive it for the benefit of Afrika and all mankind.

In 1983,nine young people were ordained priests to join the struggle for the religious and cultural emancipation of the black nation and to fight for the promotion of the United Nations teaching on human rights and freedom of religion. Currently we are working slowly, but surely, in all the regions of Ghana and other parts of our blessed motherland and the world.

Our humble advice is that the components which unite us; such as building the nation together, and helping our people set up their own small scale industries is stronger than that which divides us, such as envy and colonialist thought. If a person believes that a creature of the most high is equal to him then that is his/her private opinion, but if that person says that a certain son of Jah is the only way to salvation, then that particular teaching is wrong and is an insult to the wisdom and sanctity of Amen-ra.

May the creator of Afrika, the creator of the universe and all good spirits which Amen-ra created for our benefit and not for our destruction along with our Holy ancestors protect Afrika and all the struggling and suffering people of the world.

In 1982, Okomfo Damuah , formed the Afrikania religion and ordained nine young priests to start propagating the message of our holy ancestors. He was the first servant of the Afrikania Mission; He stated "Amen-ra is Good, Amen-ra is Love, Amen-ra is Kind" and the beat way to serve Him is to love your neighbour and respect all the Divines' creatures, both visible and invisible. He stated that no religion has the monopoly of the truth, therefore the Afrikan traditional concept known to us as Afrikania is as good as any other, if not better, and it is the duty of the Afrikan to study it, evaluate it and to promote it towards the development of Afrika and all mankind. He stated that we are all children of the most High and He alone created all of us but all of us do not see Him alike, so each race should develop his own concept of the creator according to one's tradition and culture. Finally, one day we will all meet and give glory to Amen-ra with our beauties and styles, as we say in our tradition "all the colours of the world are beautiful in the eyes of the Creator". He stated that the gods are the children of the Most High, therefore we should consult them for our spiritual problems.

Okomfo Damuah stated, we as Afrikans, should develop our own concept of how best to serve the Creator And how to govern ourselves. We should not take instructions from anyone, for we are all children of the Most high. He instructed us to pour libation to our mothers and fathers who rest in the valley of the dead and all our problems will be heard and resolved, for as you do to your elders so will your children also do unto you. He stated that, all the spiritual teachings of the past were designed to help man reach perfection. He stated that the teachings of the extended family system, which formed the universal brotherhood, were the first ideology, science or philosophy. It was a goal, a trend and an ideal of collectivity and universality. All human beings are brothers and sisters, sons and daughters of the same heavenly mother and father, and they must be united like the cells in a single organism, which all collaborate and work harmoniously for the health and well being of that organism. This is the divine teaching that Afrikania brings to the world

Amen-ra.

"AFRIKANIA IS MY FAITH".

AFRIKANIA IS MY FAITH        BASED ON AMEN-RA HIMSELF/HERSELF AND THE BEST TRADITON OF MANKIND WHICH BEGAN IN AFRIKA.

COME- ALL MEN AND WOMEN WE ARE ONE FAMILY TO PROCLAIM THIS ANCIENT AND TRUE FAITH IS TO SERVE AMEN-RA AND ALL MANKIND.

King Amenophis

 Father of Ankhenaton & Tutankhamon

Husband of Queen Tiye of Nubia

He was known as the divine manifestation of Ptah-

Seker-Asar .His protective god was Asar . He reigned for many years as Pharoah of ancient Khamit, and was a devoted spiritualist who lived according to the Nubian-Khamitic law of MAAT (righteousness, justice & truth). King Amenophis was one of the most  remarkable Pharoahs in ancient Khamit who built an enormous shrine of reverence to the only true Creator known to us as Amon-Ra. He married a very beautiful & intelligent Nubian woman by the name of Tiye when she was only 13 years of age, they lived a righteous life and their divine union endured because of the unique love they shared.

King Amenophis was full of adoration and honour for his Nubian Queen; he furnished a magnificent palace with rubies, gold, diamond and other precious jewels to proclaim his undying love for the Nubian Goddess whom he adored, he wrote inspirational poems to exalt his Love as the Queen of Light whose illumination shines down upon him and strengthens his spirit so that he can feel the confidence he needs to conquer all the worlds obstacles, no matter what they may be. Truly, their union was blessed indeed by the hands of Amon-Ra for through the love of the Creator, the honourable Queen of Nubia conceived two of the wisest and intelligent Kings of Khamit, one by the name of Ankhenaton the King who was the founder of the monotheism concept & Tutankhamon the younger son & King who was the reconstructor of the ancient spiritual concept based upon divine obedience to the one Creator, Amon-Ra and the divine law of MAAT , their love lives on today in the Afrikan world of all the black kings & queens who keep our love alive.

Unfortunately, he died at a young age of sickness but with the guidance of Amon-Ra, his Nubian Queen upheld the nation of Khamit upon his passing into the netherworld, his name was not forgotten for through his Queen his legacy lived on & shall live on forevermore as long as the love of the Afrikan family is alive.

The SPIRIT OF Amon-Ra spoke to Ankhenaton to reveal  the newfound Divine Concept of One Supreme Being who is the Creator of all  things, this sacred knowledge gave him the power to flee the empire of Khamit  with his wife Nefertitti who fully supported him, and helped her beloved husband  to build his own city called Ankhetaton. The Wise One, Ankhenaton was commonly referred to by  the ancient Elders as a "Religious King" many years before the coming of Christianity.  The Spirit of Amon-Ra had revealed the Secret Trinity of the Gods to Ankhenaton  which he described as "Soul, Spirit and Body",  this Three-in-One  Concept gave Ankhenaton the confidence, perseverance & strength to overcome all obstacles  and rebuild a new City in the Alkebu-lan world. This concept of One Holy Trinity  was copied by Western Europeans (much later in world history) to create  their own version of "religion" which has today been distorted with European supremacy and is now accepted & understood as one of the major Western world  Religions- known today as Christianity.

The Royal Family lived a life of Purity based upon the Law of  Maat which is righteousness, justice & truth. Their relationship was full of love, kindness and understanding. Ankhenatons' first royal wife, Queen Nefertitti  was the ancient priestess-Queen of her husbands' New City. Ankhetaton, during all the major traditional ceremonies she rode the Royal Chariot alongside her husband and she also shared partnership with him in all their administrative  affairs, this shows us the regal position of Queen Nefertitti in the political and spiritual dimension of Khamit. Our honourable Queen of Khamit was honoured & revered by the inhabitants of Khamit as the Divine Wife of Amon-Ra and the  Keeper of Sacred Knowledge. Our beloved Queen Kiya, the second wife of Ankhenaton was full of love for her husband, she was known as his confidante, lover, sister and best-friend and continually stood by her Kings' side through all his trials  & tribulations, she never neglected her beloved husband when he was in a time of need.

Queen Kiya was also a deep spiritualist who would often devote herself to daily worship at the Shrine of the Gods-Holy of Holies Worship Center at Heliopolis,  the City of the Sun, it was at this Sacred Shrine that Queen Kiya would give service to the Creator and ask for eternal blessings for her husband & their family. Although King Ankhenaton received much support from his wives and children, the Council of Elders in Khamit never agreed with Ankhenatons'  behaviour, in fact they were very disappointed at his conduct towards the ancient Spiritual Law of the Nation. The transformation in Ankhenatons ' life also  disturbed his Mother, Queen Tiye of Nubia, she was extremely distraught with her  son because she did not understand why he was rebelling  against the Original System of Khamit.

Ankhenaton knew that all the Wise Men and Women of the nation were against him, at this time he became disturbed and went to the Holy  Shrine to pray to the Creator of his Ancestors for forgiveness, more Knowledge,  Strength and Wisdom to rule his New Kingdom. The Spirit of Amon-Ra descended upon Ankhenaton once again to reveal to him that they did not  come to tell him to change the System of Worship and the name of the Creator  but instead to tell the whole world about the Concept of One Supreme Being who is the Creator of all things. Shortly thereafter, Ankhenaton became ill whereby his beautiful wives and children came to his side to take care of him, they stood by him throughout his illness hoping and praying that his health would  improve in the near future. However, soon enough destiny took its' turn and the King of Khamit departed to the Netherworld of his Holy Afrikan Ancestors to rest in eternal peace. Ankhenaton was 43 years old with four children and two wives when he was called by his Holy Afrikan Ancestors to the mystical  heavens. During his departure to the Sacred Land of Our Holy Afrikan Ancestors. King Ankhenaton wrote this hymn of praises to extol the Creator of the heavens and the earth:

I have come to you O Nebt-Het

I have come to you, Sun Bark of Night

I have come to you, you who are just in the reddening;

I have come to you, stars of the Northern Sky, Remember me.

It is well with me, with them,

It is quiet for me, for them

Within the arms of my father,

Within the arms of Amon-ra.

Tutankhamon, the young and wise King became the ruler of Khamit at the teen age of 9 through the strength and wisdom of the Most High, Amon-Ra. The spirit of Amon-Ra in union with Asar & Ast, descended upon the Council of Elders to give them the gift of wisdom and knowledge to support the young King Tutankhamon in all his efforts to reconstruct the ancient spiritual law of Khamit.

The Wise Elders ruled the nation of Khamit successfully with peace, serenity & truth, the divine assembly of the glorious Blackland of Khamit was administered & governed by the Elders of Alkebu-Ian, the Holders of Sacred Divinity. King Tutankhamon, the beloved son of Queen Tiye of Nubia & Pharaoh Amenophis of Khamit is the Magnificent One who was chosen by Amon-Ra to devote his life to the reconstruction of the traditional spirituality of Khamit & all of Alkebu-lan.

At this time in our ancient Alkebu-lan history, the young & wise Tutankhamon was called to the Throne of the Gods by Amon-Ra to resurrect and reconstruct the ancient way of life in Khamit. King Tutankhamon was chosen by Our Holy

Afrikan Ancestors in union with the Almighty Amon-Ra to uphold the position spiritual leader. This honourable status enabled the young King to make many effective changes in the reconstruction of the Divine Law of the Nation. King

Tutankhamon was always welcomed and respected throughout his mission by the Elders and all the peoples of the land. The inhabitants of all of Khamit trusted the Young King, they rejoiced and became happy in the works of Our King through his love and devotion for the kingdom of upper and lower Khamit and the whole nation of Alkebu-lan.

King Tutankhamon has been guided by the Spirit of Amon-Ra to maintain the

Concept of the One Creator- which was introduced by his brother, Ankhenaton, today this Universal Order has spread all over the world & is now regarded as Religion. The Blackland of Khamit was a Great Kingdom of Holiness which was blessed by the hands of Amon-Ra, the Creator of the Universe descended upon the earth with our Holy Afrikan Ancestors to show the Children how to follow the Law of Maat- which is divine obedience to the Most High One-Amon-Ra.

Our Heavenly Mother & Father bestowed the gift of wisdom upon the Children of Alkebu-lan (3 500 years before the birth of Moses) which is today known as the 42 Admonitions of Maat. Maat is the Universal Code of Moral Law and Sacred Order which all of the Alkebu-lan nations must abide by in order to live a righteous life in this world and beyond.

Our Holy Afrikan Ancestors of the ancient Alkebu-Ian World were blessed by Amon-Ra because they abided by the Sacred Order Of Alkebu-lan, their obedience to the 42 Laws Of Maat ensured spiritual prosperity for all the peoples of the land The people of the modem Afrikan world today are the only Inheritors of ancient Afrikan knowledge, we must be responsible for the reconstruction of Our Land and Her People.

Afrikan peoples of the world (The Continent & The Diaspora) must make a conscious choice to resurrect the ancient philosophy of our Holy Afrikan Ancestors, just like the divine works of the young & wise King Tutankhamon we must be completely devoted to the reconstruction & resurrection of the Sacred Law of Our HolyLand-Divine Obedience to the Creator and the ancient way of Maat

AMEN-RA is the supreme being who is to be contacted through our holy ancestors; because of the great spiritual achievements they have contributed to the world.

Our holy ancestors are the bridge between Amen-ra and his children living on earth. All of our prayers and praises to the creator must be heard by them because they have gone to live with Amen-ra for our benefit.

In Afrikan wisdom, there are no deceased. Our ancestors have only changed their residence, their home. They have moved away. Sometimes, we say " they are traveling!" or "Wapo safarini /  wamesafari".

According to the sacred wisdom of ancient Kemet we read, "May life always follow death".

The fact that , our ancestors are the intermediates between Amen-ra and his living children on earth, promotes outsiders to believe that we respect the hierarchy of the forces of nature. As children of Amen-ra, we must always remember that it is our spiritual obligation to pour libation for our mothers and fathers who rest in the kingdom of the creator's divine heavens.

Amen-ra will witness and accept your actions and you shall receive blessings from him. Do not neglect to do this even when you are away from home; for as you do for your parents so shall your children also do for you.

Charter

What  is  Afrikania?

Afrikania  is  a  spiritual  movement  that  believes  in  the  existence  of  one  Supreme  Being  who  is  the  Creator  of  all  living  things. We  believe  that  the  Creator  reveals  his  divinity  to  every  individual  nation, therefore  everyone  is  at  liberty  to  worship  Amon-Ra  in  accordance  with  ones  inheritance  and  culture. Amon-Ra  created  the  universe  and  filled  it  with  his  sons  and  daughters. We  are  all  children  of  the  Most  High  Creator, therefore  we  are  all  entitled  to  prosper  if  we  live  in  accordance  with  the  divine  laws  of  nature  and  live  a  righteous  existence  with  our  fellow  brothers  and  sisters.

 AFRIKANIA   SPIRITUAL   REVOLUTION

Afrikan  traditional  spirituality  has  been  forgotten  by  Afrikans  for  centuries  due  to  cultural  genocide, slavery  and  colonization. Our  vision  is  the  rebirth  of  the  Afrikan  spiritual  concept, more  specifically  Afrikania  Mission  which  is  the  practice  of  Afrikan  divinity  based  on  the  unique  diversity  of  Afrikan  cultures. It  is  also  a  unifying  concept  for  all  Afrikan  peoples  of  the  world. We  must  reclaim  what  is  ours  and  become  proud  of  the  divine  inheritance  we  have  been  blessed  with  from  Creation ; it  is  proven  that  the  belief  in  a  Supreme  Being  has  always  been  indigenous  to  the  Afrikan  World Family, since  time  immemorial.

Fundamentally,  Black/ Afrikan  people  have  the  same  spiritual  concepts, whether  it  be  Akan  spirituality, Shango, Candomble, or  Masai  spirituality. We  must  use  these  concepts  as  a  unifying  factor  to  obtain  the  highest  personal  and  spiritual  development  so  as  to  build  collective  spirituality; this  sacred  wisdom  will  enable  us  to  rebuild  great  and  mighty  civilizations  once  again  as  our  Holy  Afrikan  ancestors  did  in  the  ancient  past.

The  Purpose  of  the  Afrikania  Mission  is  to  create  a  new  world  order  for  the  children  of   Amon-Ra  based  upon  the  Nubian- Khamitic  principle  of  Maat  which  is  righteousness, justice  and  truth -the  structural  foundation  of  our  ancient  Afrikan  spirituality  and   the  divine  law  of  nature  that  our  Holy  Afrikan  ancestors  lived  by  for  thousands  of  years.

Our  Mission  is  to  help  the  Afrikan  nation  accomplish  the  goal  of  mental  and  spiritual   liberation  from  colonialist  thought  and  self-hatred, so  we  as  one  people  of  one  destiny  may  learn  to  appreciate,  respect  and  honour  the  Afrikan  philosophy  and  theology  and  may  therefore  reclaim  the  magnificent  inheritance  of our  ancient  divinity  which  we  have  been  deceived  to  neglect  through  spiritual  blindness  and  lack  of  knowledge  of  ourselves.

Who  is  an  Afrikan  according  to  the  Afrikania  Mission  Charter?

According  to  Afrikan  philosophy, the  definition  of  an  Afrikan  is : a  native  or  inhabitant  of  the  Afrikan  continent  or  any  other  person  of  Afrikan  origin  in  the  world; specifically  the  brothers  and  sisters  of  the  Diaspora (Caribbean, North  and  South  America  etc.)  who were  forcefully  brought  to the Americas  to  build  the  New  World  for  the  economic  benefit  of  Europeans.

We  conduct  ourselves  according  to  the  Divine  Law  of  Universal  Order that  we  have  inherited  from  the  Creator  &  our  Holy  Afrikan  ancestors  which  is the  42  Admonitions  of  Maat (3 500  years  B.C.E.) recorded in the  Papyrus  of  Ani  (or  The  Book  of  Life  and  Death); the  first  spiritual  scriptures  of  humankind. The  42  Admonitions  of  Maat  are  the  principles  of  divine  obedience  upon  which  we  stand  and  the  moral  order  that  we  live  by.

Which group of people does the Afrikania Mission wish to contact  ?

The  Afrikania  Mission  is  seeking  to  communicate  with  the  thousands  of  our    Continental  and   Diasporan  brothers  and  sisters  worldwide (regardless  of  their  religious  or  social  affiliation) who  would  like  to  learn  more  about  their  ancient  Afrikan  spirituality; any   member  of  our  extended  Afrikan  family  is  welcome  to  come  and  serve  the  Creator  from  the  Afrikan  perspective. We  conduct  our  spiritual  service   according  to  the  Afrikania  Mission  "Guidelines  for  Community  Worship" ; which  is  documented  in  our  spiritual  book  " Nwoma  Kron  Kron ". At  this  present  time, our  services  are  held  once  a  month  in  the  City  of  Montreal.

Afrikania  Mission  does  not  charge  any  membership  fee  for  enrolment  but  donations  are  accepted  and  appreciated. The  Divine  Theology  of  our  Holy  Afrikan  ancestors  indicates  that  when  one  is  elevating  into  a  higher  spiritual   realm, one  must  rid  thyself  of  certain  psychological   impurities  and  worldly  dimensions which  constrain  the  spirit-being  from  growth, therefore,  mental and  spiritual  cleansing  is  a  must-do  before  ascending  into  the  Sacred  Universe  of  our  Holy  Afrikan  ancestors.

The  Afrikania  Mission   Spiritual   Initiation  is  as  follows:

1. The  42  Admonitions  of   Maat  given  to  us  by  Amon-Ra   and  our  Holy  Afrikan ancestors 3500  years  B.C.E. should  be  read  by  each  participant   to  plea  for repentance  before  Amon-Ra.

2. A  fresh  bowl  of    blessed  water  with   herbs  is  prepared  for  each   participant  so they  may  cleanse  each  others'  face, hands  and  feet. This  process  indicates  the arrangements  of   spiritual  upliftment  from  mental  bondage.

3. The  fresh  bowl  of  water  is  placed  in  front  of  each  participant, after the   cleansing  process  each  participant  is  guided  to  the  arms  of  MotherAfrika  through  their  purification  of  the  spiritual  bath  by  stepping  over  the  Ocean of  Blindness  to  the   River  of  Peace  and  Serenity. A   candle  is  lit  which signifies  the  divine  illumination  of  our  Holy  Afrikan  ancestors  whom  are   in  union  with  Amon-Ra, one  of  the  most  significant  procedures  of  reparation and  repatriation  is  the  spiritual  journey  to  MotherAfrika  and  the  realm  of  the  Supreme  Being.

4. Upon  completion  of  the  3  Steps  of   Spiritual   Purification, the  last  preparation  is the  entry  into  the  ancestral  clan  of  each  individual participant  by  being placed  upon  the stool -which is the  spirit and embodiment of  the nation; finally each participant will be offered the ancestral food (usually  mashed  yam  or  plantain  with  palm  oil)  which  indicates  the  newfound  link  between  our Holy  Afrikan  ancestors  and  Amon-Ra.

This  is  the  method  of    our  spiritual  initiation  as  One  People, being  guided  by One  Divine  Force  with  One  Destiny!  May  the  Creator  of  Afrika,  the  Creator  of  the  Universe  in  union  with  our Holy   Afrikan   ancestors  and  all  good  spirits  which  Amon-Ra  created  for  our Benefit  and  not  for  our  destruction, protect  the  Afrikan  continent  and  all  her Children  and  all  the  struggling  and  suffering  people  of  the  world.

The  Afrikania  Mission   worldwide  will  continue  to  pursue  and  strive  towards the  vision  of  a  spiritually  and  mentally  emancipated  Afrikan  world  and  a unified  Afrikan  nation  until  the  goal  is  attained.

May  your  will  be  done.

Maat-I.

AMON-RA.

Belief System

THE BELIEF SYSTEM OF AFRIKANIA.

We believe in the Creator who has a multitude of names but we Afrikanians refer to Him/ Her as Amon-Ra, a name our ancient Afrikan ancestors have used for the Creator for thousands of years.

We believe in Nwoma Kron Kron and the sriptures of all the Prophets of Amon-Ra.

We believe in the divine scriptures of our holy Afrikan ancestors which were revealed to them by Amon-Ra.

We believe in the resurrection of the dead not physical but mental and spiritual resurrection.

We also believe in the resurrection of the righteous servants of Amon-Ra.

We believe the mini-gods are good and were created by Amon-Ra to serve man on his way to righteousness.

We believe in libation prayer.

We believe in the spirit of our ancestors.

We believe in reincarnation.

We believe that Amon-Ra created minor-spirits or mini-gods before creating others and commanded them to help man to do good and avoid evil.

We believe that the symbols known to us as divine images in traditional Afrikan shrines are super scientific spiritual objects which serve as altars.

We believe in the spiritual immortality of the soul.

We believe in the 42 Admonitions of Maat which was given to us by Amon-Ra 3500 years before B.C.E.

We believe that Amon-Ra has assigned special guardians or mini-gods to take care of the days of the week as patrons.

We believe the Creator is one and all, Amon-Ra has no second or equal.

We believe that we as Afrikans do not die, but transcend into a different stage of life.

We believe that Amon-Ra reveals Him/ Herself to every individual nation, therefore as Afrikans we have the responsibility to serve Him/ Her from the Afrikan perspective.

We believe that Amon-Ra created all of us equal but we all do not see Him/ Her alike.

We believe the Afrikan nation must release the psychological chains of their mental framework imposed upon them by the imperialist actions of their colonial masters deriving from their need to divide, conquer and destroy the original Afrikan people.

We believe one of the most dangerous techniques used to cripple the Afrikan nation has been the adoption of the colonial masters’ names, therefore, promoting the neglect of the memory of a peoples’ past and the reshaping of their future.

We believe in the universality of the entire Afrikan world family; we believe that our departed Afrikan family in the Diaspora should come back home and must be welcomed by their Continental family with open arms. It is important that Afrikan peoples understand that the forced criminal act which was committed in the Motherland has contributed greatly to Afrikas’ underdevelopment, constant strife, war and poverty.

We can only seek forgiveness from our Creator and our holy Afrikan ancestors if we all repent and live harmoniously as one family, only then shall we be pardoned for our sins. May the Creator of Afrika, the Creator of the Universe in union with our Holy Afrikan ancestors and all good spirits which Amon-Ra created for our Benefit and not for our destruction protect the Motherland and all Her Children and all the struggling and suffering people of the world.

May your will be done.

Amon-Ra.

A Letter from

OSOFO-OKOMFO KWABENA DUMUAH

Dear Comrades in the struggle for Cultural and Religious Freedom.

Religion is a way of life, and you have the right to select the type that is relevant and realistic to you. It is wrong for any religion to teach you that its method of worship is the only way to God. God is the only true Judge and if we follow His laws, which are printed in our hearts, we have nothing to fear. Religion is not a tractor to be imported. Afrikania Religion is a way of life that promotes Godliness, truthfulness, goodness, justice and liberation from the Afrikan perspective. It teaches that God, the creator of the world is a spirit and that the best way to serve HIM is to do His will; namely, to serve mankind, our neighbor, our community, our country, and to make good use of His creatures, both visible and invisible for His honor and glory. We believe that god is Love, Truth and Justice and that He understands, loves all His creatures and the way they pray to Him. God did not make us Afrikans by mistake. He has made us Afrikans so that we can serve Him in an Afrikan way. Unfortunately, our colonial masters used such terms as "fetish," "pagan" etc., to downgrade our Traditional Religion, for no reason whatsoever. It is wrong to describe Traditional Priests and Priestesses as "fetish." They are genuine priests and priestesses of God, who serve the One True God directly and sometimes indirectly through the lesser gods, our ancestors and other intermediaries. We must be proud of our chiefs, traditional priests and priestesses for preserving our spiritual traditions. We should never condemn them. We must know that God speaks top every group of people, race or culture, according to its manner of understanding. The Chinese, Indians, Japanese, Europeans, Americans, Australians, Asians, Jews and Arabs are proud of their spiritual heritage. They pray to God according to their tradition, and God hears them. Our culture teaches us about the existence of the gods and other Spiritual things The late Dr. J. B. Danquah, R.S. Rattray and our traditional experts teach us that the gods are spirits and messengers of God! They are our friends and our allies, not enemies. Why is it that many Afrikans are ashamed of their rich, spiritual traditions, including their own names? We should be proud of our names, such as Kwesi, Mawunyo, etc; and leave the colonial names alone. It is time to study and promote our religion. It is never too late. A man without the knowledge of his traditions is like a little fish, taken from a river and thrown into a desert.

Let's say some special prayers quietly in our hearts for the poor countries of the Third World, especially South Afrika. So that God may continue to guide them in their struggle. We pray for peace and progress in the world. May the God of Ghana, the God of Afrika and the God of the Universe, in union with our ancestors and the gods whom God created for our benefit, protect the Ghana revolution, the total Afrikan Liberation Movement and all the struggling people of the world.

Yours sincerely in Amen-Ra,

OSOFO-OFOMFO KWABENA DUMUAH

BASIC TEACHING

1.      God is life, Creator of the universe, whose nature is LOVE, and that to love our neighbor and the creatures he has made is to love God.

2.      Why did God make the world? God made the world to share in His love, power and glory.

3.      What is Afrikania? Afrikania is a religion (Nyamesom) or a way of life that teaches godliness, truthfulness, justice, love and salvation according to the holy traditions of Afrika. It is  a spiritual revolution which teaches all people to serve God, according to their understanding.

4.      How do we serve God? We serve God by doing his will and following his laws, which are printed in the hearts of all people. The best way to serve God is to do good, serve our country and mankind and utilize all the things which God has made for His glory.

5.      What is Libation? Libation is a prayer, which consists in the pouring of some liquid, for example, water, wine, other beverages, mashed yam and the invocation of the Supreme Being. In libation, we pray to God directly or pray through our ancestors, the gods and other spirits and ask for God's blessing for our country and the world.

6.      What are the mini-gods and dwarfs? The gods (abosom) and dwarfs (nkwatia- nkwatia) are spirits and messengers of God, whom God has created to help us. They are our allies, not our enemies. We must remember that all the things that God has made are goods so we must learn how to use them for the glory of God.  If we misuse them, it is our fault; for example if we misuse a cutlass, then it is our fault and not that of the cutlass.

Why do some people condemn the mini-gods? This is the result of mis-education, mis-understanding and mis-interpretation.

7.      Symbols are visual aids in our human approach to God. We may sacrifice animals and other things to God through the gods and other intermediaries, because they are the messengers of God and the honor ultimately goes back to God. We must remember that every good thing we do is for the glory of God and not the devil or any evil spirit.

8.      We believe that in order to obtain SALVATION we must worship God truthfully, according to our conscience, conviction and culture. This means:

(a)    Revolution in the meaning of Religion and Salvation.

(b)   (b) A Theology of Action and Liberation.

(c)    (c) A Commitment to Self-Reliance and Development.

9.      We believe that PRAYER means basically, living creatively a life of Righteousness foe society. It is a way of life that implies constructive and positive thinking, meditation, doing one's duty well, attending meetings for a good cause, development projects, agricultural evangelism and all kinds of good works.

10.   We believe that true SERVICE to our country, mankind the community and neighbor is a prayer and service to God.

AMEN-RA

Basic beliefs (living faith)

1.      We believe in one God, the Mystery of Mysteries, Supreme Spirit, Creator of the universe, perfect in Himself, without beginning and without end.

2.      We believe that God is the CENTRE of our life. He is everywhere by His power, presence and essence and He knows, sees and hears everything.

3.      We believe that the human soul is a spirit and will never die.

4.      We believe that after DEATH, the separated soul enters a new state of "Happiness" or "Unhappiness" in the spirit world, (asamando) in accordance with God's judgment, and our belief is that "we shall reap what we sow". This means that we must do good, serve our country and mankind and avoid evil at all times.

5.      We believe that the human race is ONE FAMILY with God as our First Ancestor. We must therefore, love one another and avoid hatred. The rich must help the poor, who must in turn, make an honest effort top uplift themselves from their condition.

6.      We believe in LIBATION as the climax of our COMMUNITY WORSHIP in which we pray to God directly, and also through our ancestors, the gods and other intermediaries of our choice which God created for our benefit. They are our allies, not enemies.

7.      We should never allow anyone to deceive us if there is any such thing called 'One way to God' then it is the way of RIGHTEOUSNESS taught by the Afrikan Traditional Religion, the first recorded religion of mankind, copied by all other religions. We are here to correct the mistakes so that all people can consult the gods for help, freely, without fear.

8.      Do the gods serve mankind & the Supreme Being? Yes, they do. They cure people suffering from various kinds of diseases and protect them in many ways. They keep the laws of God.

9.      Has Afrikania any prophets? Certainly! Let's give a few examples:

(a) The best known and greatest of all the prophets in Imhotep, a black Egyptian who lived around 2700 B.C. or Before our Common Era (B.C.E.) He was advisor to King Zoser of Egypt. He was the world's first architect to build in stone. He was also a priest, medical doctor, scientist, statesman, and in brief, the greatest genius of the ancient world.

(b) King Mena of Ethiopia, who ruled both Egypt and Ethiopia 3100 B.C. peacefully, progressively. He was the greatest law giver of his time.

(c) Akhenaton. Who was King of Egypt around 1500 B.C., wrote about the one true God.

(d)   Akhenaton's wife was Queen Nefertiti, who helped her husband rule Egypt successfully.

(e)    Okomfo Anokye, 17th Century (Ghana's most famous priest and miracle worker).

(f)     Togbe Tsali and Teshi of Eweland, 17th Century.

(g)    Tweneboah Koduah (Ghana martyr)

(h)    King Shaka Zulu 19th Century

(i)      Yaa Asentewaa Queenmother, Ghana 19th Century.

(j)     Queen Nzinga, South Afrikan Leader, 19th Century.

(k)   Edward Blyden, Nigeria and Liberia leader 19th Century, Marcus Garvey, DuBois, Kwame Nkrumah, etc.

10.  What is a Symbol? A Symbol is an object that represents something other than itself. For example, the Ghana flag represents the spirit of the Nation All religions use symbols. Christians use crosses and statues; Moslems use "sacred stone" symbol in Mecca and Afrikanians use "Gye Nyame" symbols and other carvings as visual aids in their human approach to God. We do not worship the symbols but we respect them as holy objects and there is nothing fetish about them.

11.  What are Intermediaries? These are our ancestors and other spirits through whom we pray to God. An Akan proverb says, "wope asem aka akyere Onyame a, ka kyere mframa"; that is, (if you want to speak to God, tell the wind.) Of course, we can also pray directly to God and this is what we usually do.

12.  What is the Afrikania motto? Service to mankind is a prayer and service to God.

13.  What is the meaning of AMEN-RA? AMEN-RA means "ALMIGHTY GOD". It is the ancient Egyptian word for God We are fond of the word AMEN-RA because it comes from our ancestors, the black ancient Egyptians and, secondly, it is a source of inspiration and unity for all religions which usually end their prayers with AMEN . . .which is the short form of AMEN-RA.

14.  What is the NEGATIVE CONFESSION?

It is the summary of THE LAWS OF GOD GIVEN TO OUR ANCESTORS OVER THREE THOUSAND YEARS BEFORE MOSES.

(From the Egyptian Book of the Dead or the Book of the Great Awakening).

1.      I should not do evil, rather I should do good.

2.      I should not rob with violence.

4.      I should not cheat in any way.

Short note on the first servant of Africania mission

OSOFO OKOMFO KWABENA (DR) DAMUAH was born at Asankrangwa, Western Region, April, 1930.  A Roman Catholic Priest for several years, he was inspired and commissioned by God to reactivate the Afrikan Traditional Religion to take its leading role among the religions of the world.  He resigned in the Christian religion on the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood, December 22, 1982, to begin his new assignment.

A former professor of Ancient History and Director of Black Studies in U.S.A., he was on demand as a speaker of several U.S. university campuses.  You as a member of the PNDC (Ghana’s Revolutionary Government) and he resigned to concentrate on the spiritual, cultural, religious and moral aspects of the entire Afrikan Liberation Movement. He teaches that to do our duty and serve our nation and mankind is a prayer and service to God.

He says that is against sound reasoning and divine wisdom to preach that a certain leader is the only way to salvation.  He remarks sarcastically "As soon as Jesus comes, Okomfo Anokye will follow immediately.”  Amen-Ra.

Summary

The struggle for Mental, Cultural and Religious Freedom.

The Traditional Afrikan Religion is a way of life that promotes godliness, goodness, truthfulness, liberation and justice, from the Afrikan perspective. Religion is not a tractor to be imported. We have to do our own thing. Now.

AFRIKANIA MISSION, also known as “SANKOFA”  (or a return to our roots) is the re-activation, renewal, rebirth and re-organization of the African Traditional Religion  (ATR) to make it relevant to our times. There is nothing fetish, heathen, pagan or idolatrous about it.

Our former colonial masters have wrongfully described our religion as “fetish”, “pagan”, “idolatrous” etc. for no justification whatsoever, other than the fact that our style of worship is different from theirs.

The basic belief of the Africans is that God is LIFE, the Supreme Spirit, the Mystery of Mysteries and that all men are expected to serve Him by following His laws printed in their hearts. No religion has a monopoly of the truth and no nation has been given prescriptions on how to serve God. God listens to the prayers of all His children. The Japanese pray the Japanese way, the Indians pray the Indian way and the Africans should be proud to pray in the African way.

The Afrikania MISSION

In African culture, whatever God has created is good, including the lesser gods and God manifests Himself in all things. The mini gods (Abosom) were created by the Supreme Being for our benefit and we should utilize them constructively for the glory of God. They are our allies, not enemies. They are more honest than human beings and we have no right to condemn them. They are good spirits, not devils.

Contrary to popular belief, the first book on religion is not the bible, but the Egyptian book of the Dead, also known as the Book f the Great Awakening, written by our ancestors, the ancient black Egyptians, over 4,000 (four thousand) years before Jesus the Christ, or Before our Common Era (BCE).

Why Afrikania? Afrikania, or the re-activation of the ATR, is here to correct the mistakes, the dis-information, mis-education and mis-interpretation, with reference to the ATR. In brief, our traditional religion is as good as any other religion, if not better. We should be proud of our religion and whatever is negative about it, we must correct; what is crooked, we shall straighten; what is good, we shall improve upon and promote but we should never abandon our religion for anything else. Religions are a gift from God, and like flowers, they are expected to manifest the glory of God, by the cultures, colors and lifestyles.

Libation is a prayer, which consists in the pouring of some drink or the sprinkling of some mashed food, accompanied by the invocation of the Supreme Being, the mini gods, ancestors and other intermediaries of our choice, for blessings and guidance for the World.

The expression “ancestor worship” is a misnomer. The correct expression should be RESPECT AND VENERATION for our ancestors. We give divine worship to the Supreme Creator and human respect of “minor worship” to our ancestors. In short, we give to the Creator what is due Him and to the mini gods and ancestors, what is due them. Contrary to popular belief, the gods rather, serve human beings, by curing their diseases and helping people who are barren to get children, etc.

Points to remember:

(a) The first church is the African Traditional Shrine, which existed thousands of years before the coming of other major religions of the world.

(b) The word used for the Creator was “AMEN-RA”, formerly the Egyptian Sun-God, which now stands for the Universal God, with the sun as its symbol. The short form, “Amen” can be found in almost all languages.

(c) Salvation of body and soul depends not on any leader, church or doctrine, but on one’s personal life of righteousness, aided by God’s grace.

(d) Symbols at our shrines are not “fetish.” They represent something other than themselves.

The medium is the message.

(e) Our ancestors recorded 42 laws, which can be found in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, out of which the Jewish and thee Christian Bibles took the so-called Ten Commandments.

(f) The Bible is a collection of books written by human beings, who are subject to mistakes and prejudice. There are many mistakes in it.

(g) Religion is visible in all aspects of Afrikan life, especially in the Seven Stages of life, where specific prayers are said; pregnancy, birth, naming or out-dooring, child vocational training, puberty, marriage and death. Religion and Nation Building should always go together. Our national duty is a religious duty and everything good we do is a prayer and service to God. There must be a NEW LOOK at Traditional Religion as the focal point of culture. It is time for the total emancipation of Afrika. No more bondage. Long Live the Afrikan Revolution. The time to teach creative culture and self-reliance in all our institutions now.

WE SHALL OVERCOME.

PURPOSE OF LIBATION

First, in Libation, we show symbolically how our ancestors developed from small beginnings to a deep understanding of God and their dependence on Him, in all aspects of life, especially in nation-building. Prayers usually begin and end with God and yet our detractors say the Afrikan does not know God . .  . . “How come?”

Second, in Libation, we give to God the honor that is due to Him and to the others, what is due to them, namely, (a) our ancestors (or the living-dead), (b) the gods (which are spirits and messengers of God) (c) eminent statesmen (d) other things which God has made, both visible and invisible.

Third, we believe that even though our ancestors are not with us in body, we can invite them to help us, because they are always with us in spirit.

Fourth, we demonstrate our fellowship with out Creator and ask for the spirit of creativity and commitment for the welfare of the nation.

Fifth, as incentive for good moral behavior, we pray that the good get their reward (both here and in the spirit world) and the enemies and saboteurs of our nation, the necessary punishment accordingly.

SIGNIFICANCE

The Libation ritual should not be taken lightly. The fact of pouring some drink on the ground which is God’s garden or at any convenient place signifies sacrifice sand sharing with God and our ancestors, even thought they do not drink. We must remember that in ritual, the most important things that we should look for is not so much the object used, but the purpose and motive behind the whole ceremony. Culture is language and the medium is the message.

WHY PRAY TO OUR ANCESTORS

Why not? First, we must all remember that the Afrikan society consists mainly of three parts, namely: the dead (those dead but alive in spirit), the living and those not yet born. We remember the dead during the course of the year, especially on festive occasions and also during libation. In brief, we pray to our ancestors:

a)      to renew our communion and fellowship with them;

b)      to invite them to intercede for us, and

c)      to draw inspiration from their good and heroic example.

WHAT IS WORSHIP OF ANCESTORS?

First of all, the expression, “Worship of Ancestors” is wrong. The correct expression should be “Veneration”  and “Respect” for our Ancestors. However, if by “worship” we mean respect and honor, then of course, we do respect and honor our ancestors; but we do not give them the honor that is due to God alone. It is important to understand this point because many people make unnecessary accusations without knowing exactly what they are talking about. “We render to Caesar what is Caesars and to God what is God’s.” So, we “worship”  our ancestors in the sense that we give them due honor and respect. We do not pray through them in the same way as some Christians pray through their saints. Why not? When will some people get rid of their mental slavery? Should we sit down and wait for foreigners to explain our religion for us? Never!! This is the time for self-determination, and not slavery.

WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF THIS CUSTOM?

Libation was practiced in ancient Egypt and Ethiopia and later spread to Babylon, Greece and other parts of the ancient world. Many religions offer libation prayers in several ways. It is informative and a good source of education and inspiration.

AFRICAN CULTURE

We know, of course, that God is a spirit and the owner of this whole world. He does not need our spiritual and material gifts or offerings. Yet, as human beings, we approach Him from our human and Afrikan perspective. The Japanese approach God from the Japanese point of view and Afrikans should approach God from an Afrikan point of view. Why should we follow other people’s ritual? We are matured enough to determine our own belief and ritual. We should stop copying others. We are not copy-parrots.

PROCEDURE FOR AFRIKANIA LIBATION PRAYER PREPARATION

(a)    First of all, the person who pour libation slips of his or her sandals, as a sign of respect to God.

(b)   Makes sure his shoulders are bare if in traditional cloth as a sign of respect.

(c)    Horn and drum may be played slightly to show solemnity of the occasion and to caution for silence.

(d)   At festivals and other big occasions, a linguist staff may be present.

1.      All must stand up (a sign of respect to the Creator)

2.      Call to prayer, e.g. “Attention please”, “Ago”, “Amee”, Amen-RA”, etc.

3.      Leader explains purpose of gathering and raises drink in calabash of glass high enough for all to see.

4.      Offers drink first to God the Creator, the mini-gods, the ancestors, the nation, leaders, people, etc.

5.      Pours drink into special bowl or pot filled with sand (or in flower pot) unless the ceremony takes place in the open where there is direct access to the ground.

6.      The person who responds to the prayers, must do so, only at the end of phrases and sentences and not disturb with unnecessary shouts of “ampa” ampa” etc.

7.      During Afrikania worship, any drinks may be used for libation, including water. But if the drink in question contains alcohol, then only three spoonfuls may be used and only the person pouring the libation drinks a little bit on behalf of the people.

This means that any drink in a regular beer bottle, if used once a week, may last for about six months.

TYPICAL LIBATION PRAYER

1.      When everything is ready, the leader calls for attention and all stand up.

2.      Leader explains purpose of meeting and motivates people spiritually and physically for the event.

3.      He holds the drink high for all to see and begins thus. “Agoo”. . . response  “Amee  ee . . .”

SEVEN ELEMENTS OF GRACE

In Libation, the chief’s spokesman, or whoever offers the prayers, is at liberty to use any formula or style of his choice. We must remember, however, that Libation is not a prayer to be memorized and recited. It is an improvised prayer full of inspiration and emotion addressed to the Supreme Creator, the gods and our ancestors. Our petition to God always implies the seven basic qualities, usually referred to as the Seven Elements of Grace. They are:

a.       Nkwa---Life and Good Health

b.      Adom---God’s Grace

c.       Asomdwee---peace for the world

d.      Abawotum---fertility of sex

e.       Anihutum---good eye sight

f.        Asotetum---good hearing

g.       Amandoree---prosperity of the nation.

(“Amen-Ra “or “Amen” is the name given to God by the ancient Egyptians, who laid the foundation for civilization, beginning from the source of the river Nile in East Afrika to the delta. The Ghana word, “Memenda,” which means Saturday or the day of “Amen” is derived from the word Amen-Ra).

CONCLUSION PRAYER

May the God of Ghana, the God of Afrika and the God of the Universe, in union with our ancestors and the gods whom God created for our benefit, protect the Ghana revolution, the total Afrikan liberation struggle and all the struggling people of the world. Amen-Ra.

So help me God.                      Amen-Ra.

ANCESTRAL PRAYER

Our ancestors who are with God

Honored be your names

Your freedom come

Your traditions be retained abroad

As it is done at home

Give us each day the vision clear

And forgive us our foolishness

As we forgive them that daily try to fool us

And lead us not into submission

But deliver us from trickery and religious bondage

For yours will be freedom

Due power and due glory

Forever and forever.               Amen-Ra
