When people ask me what my favourite tv shows are, I am often surprised that my most favourites were some of the shortest lived in television history. Christy was one such show.
I remember watching it, glued, the night it premiered on Easter. I watched every episode faithfully wondering if Christy would marry David or the doctor. That wonderment was crashed when the show was cancelled and the showed the finale...which left us all trying to decide what happened ourself.
I am a preschool teacher now in the school age program, and one of my goals is to expose my children to things they will never see at home. One of these things has been Christy. I have now shown the pilot twice, and after seaching hi and low I found "The Sweetest Gift" and two other episodes I taped, one being the finale.
As I watched the pilot today with the children, for the second time, I sat there remembering how it would all end and also thinking...I could write this! See, I'm a fanfiction writer already. I write zines for the tv show Beauty and the Beast, another show short-lived on CBS. I have also began writing phanfiction aka fiction for "The Phantom of the Opera" another favourite story of mine. So why not try to write for Christy as well?
In the upcoming months I hope to finish my first Christystory titled "To Have and To Hold"
