Will you take my poems
and hold them in your hands
and say “we love your poems”
and wish they were your own poems
and want to know what I am like
and ask “can we have more poems”
and not say “what is a sestina”
and say “have you read Margaret Atwood
because we think you are like Margaret Atwood
a little and maybe Frank O’Hara a little”
and say “we want your poems never to
