22 Strategies for Final Fantasy 6

#22) After 255 battles with the Cursed Shield (without ever un-equiping it), you will get the Paladin Shield. To combat the effects of the Cursed Shield, wear a Ribbon.

#21) For an easy defeat of most enemies, and for a great way to have Strago learn some Lore, have Relm use the Sketch or Control ability to have Strago learn the spells without the hassle.

#20) To get your character's levels up quickly in the beginning of the game (needs a turbo controller): After acquiring Banon, go to Config in the main menu and change Cursor to Memory instead of Reset. Hop onto the raft that sails the Lete River. Hang a wrong turn. Have Banon use his healing capabilities and Terra and Edgar fight (if you like, have Edgar use the AutoCrossbow). When you get to the same junction that you previously took a wrong turn on, take the turn in that same direction. Now, using some Scotch tape, or a chair leg, stick in the A button. Make sure that your characters keep winning battles and looping around in circles. Shut the TV off, but not the Super NES. After 2 or 3 days, all your characters will be at level 99 (Terra will learn Fire 3), and all the characters you meet from that point on will be near there. Except Locke, if you chose the scenarios in this order: Terra, Edgar, and Banon, then Locke, then Sabin. The problem with this is that you can't learn all the extra stuff (ex, extra speed) from Espers, so you would be better off not doing this, unless you hate looking for battles to gain levels.

#19) If you opted for the Ragnarok Magicite shard to be in sword form, bet it at the Coliseum to win the Illumina sword.

#18) If you're wondering how to get Gogo the mime in your party roster, go to the small island in the far north-east corner of the map, and get into a battle with a creature called the ZoneEater. Don't kill it; let it suck you in. you'll land in a cave where Gogo lives.

#17) To get the Moogle Charm, a relic that stops random enemy encounters form happening and can only be worn by Mog, go to the Moogle home in Narshe in the second half of the game. Press the A button on the section of the wall where Mog used to stand.

#16) Use Locke to steal the Ragnarok sword from Doom, a statue in Kefka's tower.

#15) Frustrated that spells like X-Zone and Doom don't work on enemies? Use the Vanish spell on them first. It will work on lots of enemies, even a few bosses and all 8 dragons (obviously not Kefka himself).

#14) The correct time for the clock tower in Zozo is 6 hours, 10 minutes, 50 seconds. A portion of the wall will move, allowing you to get an awesome tool: the Chainsaw.

#13) If both the spellcaster and the spell receiver (or one or the other, I forget) are wearing Relic Rings, The spellcaster can cast Doom on the other Relic Ring wearer to heal him/her.

#12) Equip Cyan with the Offering Relic, the Genji Glove Relic, and two decent swords to turn him into a real war machine. In some cases, X Fight works better than Quadra Slice. You can also do this for Shadow, and always have Genji Glove on either Shadow, Cyan, or both, as well as a Black Belt.

#11) You can modify Gogo's combat menu. Check out his/hers/It's status screen and you'll be able to modify his/hers/It's abilities (I found Blitz, Tools, Magic, and Mimic to work well).

#10) This is a FAQ. Here's how to defeat Wrexsoul: Kill off a member of your party in battle and Wrexsoul may appear. If he doesn't, cast Life 2 on the wounded party member and kill off a different member. Once Wrexsoul appears, cast Ice spells on him, and use Edgar's Drill. He should go kapoot after two rounds. Also, you can cast Vanish, then X-Zone on the two Wrexsoul lackeys and quickly kill him off like that.

#9) To save Shadow from the Floating Continent: Stand at the edge above the airship. When the clock runs down to about 3 seconds, choose Wait for Shadow. He'll appear to the right and join you.

#8) Another FAQ on how to beat the MagiMaster in the Fanatic's Tower: blow him down with about 7 or 8 Ultimas and then summon the Esper Palidor to swoop by and carry you off on his back. The Ultima that the MagiMaster casts will hopefully only hit one to three of your party members. Or, you can cast Life 3 on all party members so that after the MagiMaster kills you, you are all revived.

#7) Get the Magicite Shards Zoneseek and Golem at the Auction house in Jidoor.

#6) Mog learns his Dances being in certain elements or climatic conditions. Usually, the Dances only work in the type of climate or element that they were learned in.

#5) In South Figaro, a woman will complain about a nasty draft in the room. Head to the left behind a bookshelf to discover a stairway. Looking in the rooms reveals a save point, and some GP. There is also a secret within that secret. In the vertical hallway at the bottom of the stairs, walk straight south into the wall.

#4) A strategy that works for defeating Kefka: Put all your spellcasters (or the ones that know Cure 3, Life 2, and Ultima) first. Put good fighters second, and weak characters last. Blast away with Ultimas and Cure 3s until you reach Kefka himself. After knocking off enough HPs, he'll cast a wicked spell called Goner. If your party members are not prepared HP wise, they'll have been had. Try to have your spellcasters at least at level 70.

#3) The correct responses at the Opera House are: "Oh my hero... I'm the darkness... Must I?...".

#2) Come back to the Opera House in the World of Ruin to fight one of the eight dragons. Be prepared for his Quake spell by casting Float.

#1) To get your money level up quickly and more spells learned quickly, visit a patch of desert just west of Maranda. You'll fight Hoovers, which award 10000 GP and 5 MP each when defeated. You may even encounter the Cactrot who has little more than 5 HP but is very hard to hit. He awards 10000 GP and 10 MP.
