Rebirth
In the fall I hoped for you
All that you could be
In the winter I struggled for you
I wished for your safety
In the dead of winter
The snow lay deep upon the ground
Silently you slipped away
Your heart stopped making sound
In the spring I longed for you
The tulips broke winters grip
In the summer I wailed at the earth
It has become your mortal crypt
Yet on the darkest night of summers
Lit by the brightest moon
I sing to you softly
A mournful mothers tune
In all the months that follow
I tipped toed where you sleep
In the time that you've been gone
Pain still bitter deep
Yet happily you play love
You are not alone
A new child did grow in love
And she too was called home
In the light of each new morning
I dare to dream for you
In the darkness of the evening
I know this to be true
For the seasons are but a function of
This crazy spinning earth
Patiently I will love and live
Till I rejoice rebirth
