After sitting up for hours upon Justin’s departure, Gabby finally picked up the
phone, needing a friend. The hospital operater asked with no expression in her voice,
“Where can I direct your call, Miss?”
“To Macy.. uhhh... Macy...” Gabby paused, realizing that she didn’t know Macy’s
last name. “Forget it, actually. Thank you anyway.”
The unfriendly operater did not answer, but hung up, a loud dial tone sounded in
Gabby’s ear. Shakily standing up next to the bed, Gabby searched for her robe. Once she
found it, she reached her hands inside the pocket to warm them up, and felt a sharp pain
shoot through her finger. She quickly pulled it out and realized that she cut her finger.
Frowning, Gabby carefully put her finger back inside the pocket, and pulled out the object
of her pain. A yellow rose, with a note scribbled on a napkin.
Gabby,
Always,
Justin
“I’m.. I’m scared Macy..” she choked out, then released a loud sob, “I feel.. feel
like I’m never going to know. Justin.. Justin has been coming in the middle of the night to
see me.. I always found it as somewhat of a comfort.. I mean... He knows the past, but..
but I sent him away... And.. oh God, I feel like I’m just hurting everybody so much, and
there.. there’s nothing I can do... I told him not to come back..”
Comfortingly, Macy overlooked the impending subject and commented, “I guess
we’re both pretty.. pretty screwed up aren’t we? Well.. you should be getting the all clear
to go home soon, sweetheart.. Then you’ll be leaving me..”
Shaking her head sadly, Gabby said, “I have nowhere to go.. no one knows me,
Macy.”
Gently, she pushed Gabrielle away, and responded softly, “There’s.. There’s a lot
of things.. things that you don’t know about your life, Gabby. Things that could hurt you.
Truth be told, Virginia knows that I knew exactly who you are... And she most likley
wanted us to help each other. Well.. I plan on doing just that, Gabby. I’m not going to let
you get hurt.”
“What do you mean? What are you talking about, Macy?” Gabby asked,
wrinkling her nose.
Slowly, thinking before she spoke, Macy asked, “The other day.. When we were
listening to the radio.. Do you remember the girl that was on the radio? That the DJ was
talking about?”
“Yes.. But what does she-”
“She is you, Gabby. I mean.. you are her. And.. your boyfriend.. Justin... His
name is Justin Timberlake. He’s in one of the world’s most famous music groups...” Macy said, with uncertainty.
Standing straight, a shrill, nervous, laugh escaped Gabrielle, “You’re not serious.
You.. That can’t be right...”
Macy reached to her bedside table and picked up a recent issue of Seventeen,
(NOTE- the title of Seventeen is copywrighted and used only in this story for
entertainment purposes) where there was an article about both Gabby and Justin. The
headline read “Love Song.”
“Allow me...” Macy said softly, then beginning to read.
“The day his eyes met hers, it was true love. The kind of love that was forever.
This according to teen heartthrob Justin Timberlake reguarding his fallen love, Gabrielle
Reynolds. As most teenagers know, the pop music world was devastated when 19 year
old Gabby fell into a coma after a plane crash. At the time of this article, Gabrielle has
not regained consiousness.
“It was indeed, a story that deserves a happily ever after ending.” Gabby’s
manager, Johnny Wright of the Wright Entertainment Group told us in a recent
interview. “I remember the first day that I met Gabby. The look on Justin’s face was
just.. pricless. Justin’s never been unpractical about the music industry, so when he
asked me to sign Gabby, I knew there was something more. He loved her from the day
that he met her. Once he set his sights on her..” Well, this reporter was wondering how
Gabby felt at the commencement of this highly public romance.
Wright continued on, “After I knew her two days, I could read her like a book.
She’s like that.. She’s the kind of person that’s just so genuine and open with everyone.
Shy at first.. but such a terrific person overall. I knew that she had feelings for Justin
right away. She breathed in his every word. She thought that he was the best thing since
sliced bread. It was evident that it was mutual.”
Bandmate of Justin’s, Lance Bass agrees, “It’s a relationship that few people
ever have the opportunity to experience first hand. They walk into a room together, and
the room lights up... I’m very happy that Justin and Gabby found each other.”
Has Gabby’s accident put a damper on Justin’s love for her? Fellow member of
*NSYNC Chris Kirkpatrick laughed when presented with the idea, “He will never stop
loving her! Even if... *NSYNC breaks up.. the armageddon comes and well you get the
point!”
Upon asking Justin about the chance that his beloved will not recover, he
responded, his voice laced thickly with emotion, “She’ll wake up. I know it. I know it
with all my heart. I’m not ready to lose her.”
Before lifting her eyes, Macy reached to her bedside and picked up a disguarded
mirror. Her eyes peirced into Gabby’s and she spoke tenderly, “Sweetie.. Look... Just
look...”
That being the first time she saw her reflection, Gabrielle stared ominously into the
small mirror, studying her face. Deep blue eyes... so reflective.. so emotional.. stared back
at her. Pouty lips.. and average looks.. “What does this prove, Macy? I...” she stopped
upon seeing the large full page picture Macy was holding up. It was Gabby and Justin,
with Justin’s head on her shoulder, his lips pouted as though he was about to kiss her.
“That’s that Timberland guy....!” she exclaimed, a blank look on her face.
Shaking her head sadly, Macy answered, “No. That’s not his real name,
sweetheart. His name is Justin. Justin Timberlake. And you.. you are Gabrielle Reynolds.
I promised I wouldn’t tell you any of this Gabby. I promised Virginia.. and I.. I don’t
know. I hate breaking promises. But how are you ever going to remember if no one tells
you?” Gabby looked on intently listening to Macy.
I treasure the memories that we had before your accident, but we
can move on. In the words of a song, “Don’t wanna lose you now, no, or
never again.” I love you.
Stifling a laugh, Gabby responded stiffly, “That’s rediculous. That doesn’t prove
that I’m her or.. she’s me.. or.. whatever...”
