“Mr. Timberlake, your friend has a very bad case of the flu. Given a few
days of heavy anti-biotics, and an even longer period of rest, she’s going to be
just fine.” The doctor, a man with graying hair and large, thick glasses, reported.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Justin answered, “Thank you very much, Dr.
Potter. I was wondering, could it have been caused by stress?”
Dr. Potter nodded, and replied, “The flu can be brought on by a number of
things. An unbalanced diet, not enough fluids, a weakened ammune system,
and yes, as you asked stress. You just tak care of that young lady when she
gets out of here.”
A tender smile on his face, Justin replied, “Oh, don’t worry, sir. I certainly
will. You can count on that.” His gaze turned back to Gabby, a caring look
clearly visible in his eyes.
Justin was jerked from a sound sleep in the uncomfotable hospital chair.
Feeling a hand on him, he looked up. Of course, it was Johnny. He spoke
softly, “I spoke to the doctor. Looks like she was keeping some things from us..”
With a confidence about him, Justin stated assertively, “I’ll take care of
her when she’s out of here Johnny.”
Johnny chuckled, looking over at Gabby, “That’s obvious, Justin.”
“What do ya mean, Johnny?” Jusitn asked, curiously.
“Everybody can see how much she means to you, Justin. You love her,
don’t you?” Jonny asked quietly.
No answer was necessary, for, they both knew the answer. Silence
remained between the two as they watched Gabby. Her hair was knotted, and
she was very pale. It was as though she was a completely different person. All
Justin wanted was for her to open her eyes, and smile at him.
