After I had listened to and bought every Iron Maiden,Black sabbath,Queensryche,Judas Priest and countless other bands and albums. The owner of a local record store recommended the new Slayer-Show no Mercy. So my friends and I bought it. On LP even, that was when records were still the premium. I still have the original album in mint condition. To me its priceless. Anyway we went and cranked Show no mercy. Slayer sent shivers down my spine. I had heard nothing like it up till then. Slayers music moved me more emotionally than any metal yet. My friends and I were in awe. Needless to say from then on we became huge Slayer fans. All we could think was fuck yeah this music is evil and so are we,someone felt the same way we did about religion and put the heaviest music yet to lyrics unlike anybody had heard. Slayer is also a band who stuck to their ideals and haven't sold out like the Faggot Metallica and the Pansy ass Megadeth! Slayer proves you can still make the music you want and sell enough c.d.'s to live comfortably and have one of the biggest army of fans without selling out to the mainstream monster. Tom Araya set the standards for heavy as hell vocals and has one of the coolest and most distinct voices around. You can here all the other scandinavien vocals or cannibal corpse wanna bes, most of those bands all sound the same. When you here Tom Araya bludgeon your ears, you know its Slayer! Slayers music has some of the best drum lines ever fucking written. And the hellish guitar work by Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman are matched by no other. I think Slayer set the standard for Black Metal, everyone else followed. There is one thing I always wanted to be and that was an antichrist and Slayer made it all possible.
