Introduction

Christian Leadership Training Institute

What you have reached is a creative, new approach designed to help you answer one of the most difficult questions of life: "How can I best serve my Lord, Jesus Christ."

At Christian Colleges/Bible Schools, thousands of Christians have discovered work through the offerings of practical, proven, Biblically-based strategies.  But for every person attending these colleges/schools there are hundreds of people unable to take advantages of these services.

This concerned us.  So we decided to dream: "What if we could gather all of our insight and knowledge and put it into a systematic, Biblically-based internet format designed to help people lead others into a better Quality of Life through Christianity."

At this web site, we believe we've found the answer.  If you desire to integrate your life and leadership skills with your commitment to Jesus Christ, than Christian Leadership Training Institute is for you.  Through these course materials you'll discover how to integrate your skills and gifts with your faith.  You'll develop the knowledge and skills essential to building your leadership future on Biblical principles.

In the next paragraphs, we want to introduce you to our program and show you how to get the most out of this resource.

Life Worth Living
Horace Mann

Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for Humanity.

It's important to have realistic expectations.  We can't guarantee that you'll be the : "greatest leader ever seen," by the time you've completed our lessons.  What we can promise is that after you've gone through the text, exercises, and questions, you'll see the leadership process from a distinctly Christian perspective.  You'll see the advantages and wisdom of combining Biblical principles with practical leadership skills to maximize your Christian service.

1.  CLTI gives you the "big picture" of the leadership process.

Many people think that leadership is simply a matter of standing in front of a group of people.  We help you see the total process of leadership.

2.  CLTI equips you in each step of Christian Leadership.

Once you see the big picture, it's necessary to take a closer look at the individual steps you'll take in your leadership role.

Biblical Foundations: "What does God expect?"

As a Christian, your leadership starts with God and knowing what He expects from your life and leadership.  You'll have the opportunity to make a prayer of commitment and affirm your desire to serve God through your gifts and skills.

Assessment: "Who am I?"

Once you know what God expects, you can take a good look at the special person He made you to be.  You'll discover how to access your God-given design and personal gifts.  You'll see see how to deal with significant circumstances, people and events.

Attracting a Crowd
George Washington Carver

When you can do the common things of life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world.

Checkups:  "Where do I go from here?"

Landing a leadership position doesn't mean the process is over.  In fact, in some ways, it's just beginning.  Rewarding leadership isn't based on a one-time decision, but on a series of ongoing choices made over many years.

You'll learn the value of having a development plan.  You'll see why it's important to improve the relationships with your God, your fellow Christians, your family, and your leadership itself so you can spot potential problems before they grow.

Conducting regular checkups will help you determine how satisfied with your life.  The new knowledge you gain by completing the questions will help you make the adjustments you need to.

A chief aim of this course is to help you be more effective.  Each lesson will help you identify problems and possibilities.  This will allow you to assess and evaluate your alternatives for taking constructive action.

3.  CLTI offers you the needed encouragement.

Let's face it, leadership is hard work.  You're going to spend precious time and energy.  At some point in the process, you're bound to get discouraged.  Don't fret.  It's normal to have doubts and questions along the way.  However, you can choose to turn times of frustration into avenues of hope:  "Do I give up, or do I choose to go on, believing that God is with me?"

Through trials and triumphs you will discover a loving God who will remain faithful every step of the way.  And this same God cares for you.

4.  CLTI provides you a permanent resource for leadership exploration.

CLTI is designed to guide you in both your faith and secular work choices.  You'll be able to use many of the leadership principles and strategies again and again.  Whether you're starting fresh, or starting over in mid-life,

What Potential
Robert Louis Stevenson

To be what we are and to become what we are capable of becoming is the only end of life.

All of the exercises in the following lessons can be valuable both now and in the future.  Even though situations and people change, the truths of providing meaningful leadership remain the same.

Seeing the big picture (theology). Receiving the necessary instruction.  Finding the needed encouragement.  Having access to a permanent resource.  In each of these ways CLTI helps you discover how to use the skills and gifts God provided you.

How to Use CLTI

As you may have guessed by now, the leadership process is not a casual exercise.  Rather it is a challenging venture that demands your best effort.  The same is true for CLTI.  Before you decide to invest yourself in the following lessons, we want to show you how you can get the most out of CLTI.

Before you begin the first lesson, consider the following points:

1.  Study the lessons from the beginning to the end and from the first lesson to the last.  Each of the lessons are meant to be read in sequence; but can be used independently for special study or research.  The Biblical principals, assessments, and strategies all build on one another.

After you complete a CLTI course, feel free to return to any lesson.  for now, at least familiarize yourself with the total process before focusing on the skill (or skills) that will help you meet your current, most critical need.

2.  Share what you're learning with a group.  You should have some position of leadership that you can relate what you are learning to.

3.  Make a schedule and stick to it.  One of the best ways to maximize your efforts with CLTI is to establish a schedule.  Block out a regular time so that you can give your full attention to the text, exercises, and questions.

There are several advantages to keeping a schedule.  First, you increase your understanding of the material through planned regular participation rather than by approaching each lesson through a hit-or-miss method.  Second, a regular schedule gives you a goal  to shoot for and causes you to become a better steward of your time.

4.  Take advantage of the Homework/Discussion feature.  It will provide you a opportunity to practice what you are learning.  It will give you a chance to check out what you think and do with your fellow class students.

5.  Pray for God's direction in your lifework.  This is the greatest practical suggestion we can make as you prepare to plunge into CLTI.  You are embarking on a very important process, one that will affect the rest of your life.  Therefore, doesn't it make sense to ask God to direct you in such a vital decision?

Pray right now and commit your total leadership-building to God.  Ask Him to direct you throughout all phases of your life.  Remember Jesus Christ is faithful to meet the requests of His people: "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you" (John 15:7).

By praying for God's direction, you acknowledge His infinite love for your life and leadership.  Imagine: His desire for you to be a meaningful Christian leader is greater than your own wishes!  Pray and believe that He wants to be intimately involved in every part of your leadership.  Then expect Him to guide you as you use Christian Leadership Training Institute.

A Matter of Time
Robert Moffet

We have all of eternity to celebrate our victories, but only one short life in which to win them.

Before You Begin

This program is designed to provide Christian Leadership Training for any Christian in any ministry. This 'any ministry' can be something as simple as being a Christian Parent or as complex as a pastor of a future Church plant.  Maybe your interested in Adult or Pre-Adult ministries; then we have training for you.  Maybe you just want to be a Christian Friend or maybe you are considering "the Great Commission" and how you can relate to it; well then we have training for you.  Maybe you want to be a better leader in the secular world or in the spiritual world (e. g. Sunday School Teacher, Small Group leader, etc.) there is training for you.

OK, maybe it might be of interest to me, but what does it cost me?  Well first it is going to cost you a commitment to improve your life, your Christian relationships, your ministry (what ever it may be).  Second it's going to cost you a vulnerability of looking at yourself by yourself and with others; along with being a member of a team, helping each other.   It will cost you three hours a week either on the internet: participating in a interactive course or in discussion with fellow students/trainer in a "life on life" environment.  Also you will be spending 1 - 6 hours of studying on your own along with some time in your ministry as OJT (On the Job Training).  The financial cost will be FREE.  If you cannot afford this, God will wonder.
