Summer's End

Winds sweep through the trees
Blanket of darkness descends
The balmy nights of summer
Are coming to an end

Crickets' echoed chirping
Night time's lullabye
Across the nearby lake
I hear the loon's liquid cry

Dampness' dewy drops
In the glow of the amber streetlight
Shimmering pearly drops
Twinkle in the night

Inhaling deep into my lungs
Freshness of purest air
I sit enjoying the stillness
Wishing you with me there....
