Pillars standing tall
Throughout the passages and halls
Erroded by passing years,
Hardship, toil and tears

Exposed to the elements
Trial, turmoil and torment
Ravages the storms
That chisel, chisel at their form

But stolid soldiers made of stone
Unlike we of flesh and bone
Stand proudly and with such a grace
That centuries could not efface

Strength of towers left to ruin
By brutal threats that ever loom
Though much more onslaught sure to face
Annihilation will never taste
