"Tin of Secrets"

By: Jessica Partain

I trusted you with all my heart,I was so naive
I knew from the very start this was how things were gonna be
I thought that I could change you,but only found that I was wrong...
You took advantage of my faith in us,and now my innocence is gone...
I should've known your sweet words were all part of an act...
A ploy you used to get what you wanted, and now there is no turning back
If only I'd been stronger,or a larger girl in size
so maybe I could've defended myself
when I saw that demented look in your eyes

CHORUS:
You took away my confidence, you took away my pride
You took away my trust in everyone, now I only wish to hide
The scars embedded in my wrists, meant to take away the "sin"
But there is nothing sharp enough to take away this pain within

I should have never set my glass down
I should've never been with you alone
I should've never trusted you
With your heart as cold as stone
I never should have given in,I should've listened to that voice in my head
And now I wonder what would've happened
If I'd listened to everyone else instead
I'll never be able to wear white on my wedding day
I'll never be able to fall in love without first pulling away
My purity ring now lays in a box sitting under my bed
But nothing can hide the sight of your hands or the painful words you said

(CHORUS)
It's been over a year now
And your face remains all too real
All the soap and sponges in the world
Could never erase the hurt that I feel
And I wonder if I were to see you tomorrow
Would you feel bad for what you've done
Would I be able to confront you face to face...
...Or only turn and run?

(CHORUS)
No matter how much I hate you for the pain you've caused, and all the things you do...
You took away the only thing I had to offer...
...And that peice of me shall remain with you.

Stone by Stone

by: Wendy

I have a wall you cannot see
Because it's deep inside of me
It blocks my heart on every side
And helps emotions there to hide
You can't reach in
I can't reach out
You wonder what it's all about

The wall I built that you can't see
Results from insecurity
Each time my temder heart was hurt
The scars within grew worse and worse
So stone by stone
I built a wall
That's now so thick it will not fall

Please understand that it's not you
Continue trying to break through
I want so much to show myself
And love from you will really help
So bit by bit
Chip at my wall
Till stone by stone it starts to fall

I know the process will be slow
It's never easy to let go
Of hurts and failures long ingrained
Upon one's heart from years of pain
I'm so afraid
To let you in
I know I might get hurt again

I try so hard to break the wall
But seem to get nowhere at all
For stone upon each stone I've stacked
And left between them not a crack
The only way
To make it fall
Are imperfections in the wall

I did the best I could to build
A perfect wall, but there are still
A few small flaws, which are the key
To breaking through the wall, to me
Please use each flaw
To cause a crack
To knock a stone off of the stack

For just a stone by stone was laid
With ever hurt, with every pain
So stone by stone the wall will break
Please be the one
Who cares enough
To find the flaws, no matter what

Memory Shouldn't Be

by: Frank Ochberg, MD

Memory
Shouldn't be
Shards of a broken dream
Secret pain
Shouldn't strain
Breathlessly to scream
I know the where
I know the when

I know the who too well
Believe me or believe me not
I have a truth to tell

But mother, if you cannot hear
I'll keep your peace
A day, a year. Forever.
If you doubt and fear.
Convinces me to silence.
Your Honor, if the proof you seek
Is rusted, lost
To old, to week. Forgotten.
Then I shall not speak.
Dismiss my plea in silence.

It matters not who hears the voice
Once I have understood
The thunder of a truth untold
Will echo in the wood.
And judges naked in their robes
Will shudder at the gate
How thin the cloth of innocence
Against the chill of hate..

Memory
Shouldn't be
Shards of a broken dream
Secret pain
Shouldn't strain
Breathlessly to scream
I know the where
I know the when
I know the who too well
Believe me or believe me not
I have a truth to tell.

Survivor's Psalm

I have been victimized. I was in a fight that was not a fair fight. I did not ask for the fight... I lost. There is no shame in losing such fights. I have reached the stage of Survivor and am no longer a slave of victim status. I look back with sadness, rather than fear. I look forward with hope, rather than dispair. I may never forget, but I need not constantly remember.

I WAS a victim.
I AM a Survivor.

Hello

by: Evanescence

Playground school bell rings again
Rain clouds come to play again
Has no one told you she's not breating?
Hello, I am your mind. Giving you someone to talk to.

Hello...

If I smile and don't believe
Soon, I know I'll wake from this dream
Don't try to fix me I'm not broken.
Hello, I am the lie, living for you so you can hide.

Don't cry.....

Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping.
Hello, I am still here,
All that's left of yesterday......

Belong

by: Chris Rice

Fading memories ignored, I crawl across the forest floor. Pool reflects an orphan child, dirty, lost, alone and wild. Fatherless and nameless still. Fallen heart and broken will there ever be a place where I belong?

I cower neath the monster trees. Try to stand on tired feel. Gravity knocks me to the ground, where I give up and tears roll down... I claw the dust and beg the end, curse the day that I began to hope there'd be a place where I belong.

I hear a sound I recongnize.. You lift my chin, and seek my eyes. Song of love you sing to me, I ache to sing it back to Thee. "Father Love prepairs a place, and Brother Jesus leads the way. Follow to the place where you belong."

How did I miss this wonderous song? The forest sang it all along... River rinses all your shame. And Father offers you His name. "Father Love prepares a home, and Brother Jesus leads you on. Follow to the place where you belong..... Follow to the place where you belong."

"Cradle Me For Awhile"

by: "Hope"

A writer at Spyder's Poetry Empire

Can I cry upon your shoulder
When I'm feeling a little weak
Place strong arms around me
No need for words to speak

If and when I'm feeling down
Weak and emotions are low
Will you hold me close to you
Stroke my cheeks as tears flow

Wipe each tear with gentle fingers
In silence bring a kiss to my cheek
Hold me, rock me in your arms
Give me strength when I am weak

Let your love flow through me
Vanish my tears , return my smile
The touch of love felt in your arms
Would you cradle me for awhile

"Bound to Come Some Troubles"

By: Rich Mullins

There's bound to come some trouble to your life
But that ain't nothing to be afraid of
There's bound to come some trouble to your life
But that ain't no reason to fear
I know there's bound to come some trouble to your life
But reach out to Jesus, hold on tight
He's been there before and He knows what it's like
You'll find He's there

There's bound to come some tears up in your eyes
That ain't nothing to be ashamed of
I know there's bound to come some tears up in your eyes
That ain't no reason to fear
I know there's bound to come some tears up in your eyes
Reach out to Jesus, hold on tight
He's been there before and He knows what it's like
You'll find He's there

Now, People say maybe things will get better
People say maybe it won't be long
And people say maybe you'll wake up tomorrow
And it'll all be gone
Well I only know that maybes just ain't enough
When you need something to hold on
There's only one thing that's clear

I know there's bound to come some trouble to your life
But that ain't nothing to be afraid of
I know there's bound to come some tears up in your eyes
That ain't no reason to fear
I know there's bound to come some trouble to your life
Reach out to Jesus, hold on tight
He's been there before and He knows what it's like
You'll find He's there

"Verge of a Miracle

By: Rich Mullins

Clung to a ball
That was hung in the sky
Hurled into orbit
There You are
Whether you fall down
Or whether you fly
Seems you can never get too far
Someone's waiting to put wings
Upon your flightless heart

You're on the verge of a miracle
Standing there
Oh you're on the verge of a miracle
Just waiting to be believed in
Open your eyes and see
You're on the verge of a miracle

Here in your room
Where nobody can see
Voices are loud
But seldom clear
But beneath the confusion
That's running so deep
There is a promise you must hear
The love that seems so far away
Is standing very near

You're on the verge of a miracle
Standing there
Oh you're on the verge of a miracle
Just waiting to be believed in
Open your eyes and see

When you've played out
Your last chance
And your directions
Have all been lost
When the roads that you look down
Are all dead ends
Look up
You could see if you'd just look up

You're on the verge of a miracle
Standing there
Oh you're on the verge of a miracle
Just waiting to be believed in
Open your eyes and see
You're on the verge of a miracle

Ask Me
By: Amy Grant

I see her as a little girl hiding in her room
She takes another bath and she sprays her momma's perfume
To try to wipe away the scent he left behind
But it haunts her mind.

You see she's his little rag, nothing more than just a waif
And he's mopping up his need, she is tired and afraid
Maybe she'll find a way through these awful years to disappear.

Ask me if I think there's a God up in the heaven
Where did He go in the middle of her shame?
Ask me if I think there's a God up in the heavens
I see no mercy and no one down here's naming names
Nobody's naming names.

Now she's looking in the mirror at a lovely woman face
No more frightened little girl, like she's gone without a trace
Still she leaves the light burning in the hall
It's hard to sleep at all.

Still she crawls up in her bed acting quiet as a mouse
Deep inside she's listening for a creaking in the house
But noone's left to harm her, she's finally safe and sound
There's a peace she's found.

Ask her how she knows there's a God up in the heaven
Where did He go in the middle of her shame?
Ask her how she knows there's a God up in the heavens
She said His mercy is bringing her life again.

Ask me how I know there's a God up in the heaven
(How do you know?)
Where did He go in the middle of her shame
(Where did He go?)
Ask me how I know there's a God up in the heavens
(How do you know?)
She said his mercy is bringing her life again
She's coming to life again.

He's in the middle of her pain
In the middle of her shame
Mercy brings life
He's in the middle
Mercy in the middle.

So ask me how I know
Ask me how I know, yeah
Ask me how I know there's a God up in the heaven
(How do you know?)
Ask me how I know there's a God up in the heavens
(How do you know?)
Yeah, ask me how I know
(How do you know?)
Ask me
Ask me
Ask me how I know
(How do you know?)
There's a God up in the heavens
Ask me how I know there's a God up in the heavens.
