Green Day is a punk band consisting of 3 members, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre' Cool. They started out in 1987, by the name of "sweet children". They changed their name to Green Day and released their first album,"1039/smoothed out slappy hours" in 1990. After Green Day released this album and went on tour their original drummer John Kiftmyer left the band because he wanted to go to college.
They got a new drummer, Tre Cool. A year later in 1991 they released their next album, "Kerplunk".
In 1994, Green Day released, "Dookie" witch was probably their most famous album.
In 1995, they released "insomniac". Aparently they named it that because Billie couldn't sleep when he wrote most of the songs.
In 1997, they released "Nimrod" which featured the successful hit single, "Good Ridance"
2000, Green Day released there latest album which is Warning. Warning has sold over 1 million copies in the U.S.
2001, Green will be releasing international Superhits, November 6.
