Xenophobe's Fist

(Zealots, Crusaders, Inbreds)

History

In the beginning, when the empire was founded there were two ruling castes in society. The scholars and the military. The scholars took the road to understanding the strange world they lived in, the military took to keeping the people in line as they descended into savagery and carnage. Only the strict discipline of the military allowed them to keep control over the people and they became respected as leaders. But over the years, the Military became more fanatical, they instituted training schemes to ensure the best possible protection of their subjects. As the scholars (who would become the gatekeepers) uncovered the mysteries of the city, the Military took to one of their discoveries and claimed it for themselves. This discovery was a mysterious pool of red liquid which instilled incredibly powers of resistance in those who bathed in its cold fluid. This pool became known as the Heartblood, a symbol of purity and strength for the Military.

Only Weeks after this discovery, the Gatekeepers learnt to open the portals around the city and reopened it up to the denizens of thousands of world. The pools was considered the crowning acheivement of the city before the outsiders could taint their home with forces from beyond. Over the years since foreign groups have been present in the city, the military eased their stance against crimes caused by the city’s original inhabitants, they began to focus their attentions on the invaders. In time this has almost grown into a fanatical hatred of anything they consider impure or foreign. Naturally this has put them at odds with most of the other factions in the city, but they don’t seem to care. As far as a member of the fist is concerned, the city is their protectorate and just about everyone else is an invader trying to destroy their home. They say their is nothing fiercer than a predator dfending its own territory.......in the case of the Xenophobe’s Fist, they’re right.

Tactics

According to the Xenophobe’s Fist, there is only one way that the city can achieve true greatest and that is be ensuring only one group holds the power. One group who remains untainted by the chaotic lands outside, one group who is willing to take the fight to the streets. Since there are only two native factions, and the Gatekeepers sit around all day meddling with toys, the Xenophobe’s Fist has taken it apon themselves to reclaim the city once and for all. The primary tactic of the Fist is to clamp down on anything that another faction might do wrong. Even the slightest overstepping of the mark will bring down the hardest repercussion possible. Of course when loyal followers of the Fist do the same things, the law can be somewhat more lenient, and they don’t mind letting the other factions see this.

Character Concepts

With their ties to the military and the police, it is natural that the members of the Xenophobe’s fist drift toward positions in the law enforcement field. As a result Police, Soldiers and Security Guards predominate through the group. Of course there are others who take the groups goals to other fronts, such as Customs Officials and Private Investigators. Those members of the fist who tend to reach the highest prominence in the city are the magistrates and judges who take the war against impurity to the highest levels.

Typical Followers

The Xenophobe’s tend to draw quite a few wierd people to their side, not the least of whom are survival nuts and members of police force. But more disturbing is the Ukiyo supremacist cult who have mistakenly taken the Xenophobes as founders of a new dynasty which will lead the city to a place among the grand powers of the universe. Of course the Xenophobes also have more psychologically stable followers who simply see them as a faction which keeps the peace throughout the city (by force if necessary).

Rival Factions

Dionysians - The taint of the worlds beyond is strong on them. The taint must be destroyed and if we have to kill them to do it, then so be it.
Gatekeepers - They bring unstability to our city, but at least they don’t bear the taint of the lands beyond. They can be trusted....just.
Oneiromancers - They hide their taint on the inside, as long as it stays there. If it gets out, destroy them before it’s too late.
Patriarchs - Rumour says that they deal with demons, they deal with everyone else so why not? As long as they steer clear of us we’ll leave them be.
Silver Oracles - They see too much and that will be their eventual downfall.
The Junta - They could be allies, but they have strayed from the path of purity. They are so near to us and yet so far.
