Samlag is:
The history of the band is a little like this: |
In December 1998, Mihail had a borrowed bass (he already had a guitar) and Henrique had just bought his guitar, so we decided to borrow a drumkit to play some songs. The drumkit we got was almost falling apart, the amps were terrible and the songs we used to play sucked. But it was fun. And that was enough. So Henrique, Mihail and I (Tommy) kept on meeting to play some Ramones and Green Day songs (at that time we probably could play no more than 3 or 4 songs). The 3 of us were guitar players, but Mihail had the bass and I was the only one who could play the drums (it doesn't mean I was good at it. Actually, I still suck when playing it). Since Mihail never had this singing talent, Henrique and I would share the vocals. The time went by, and we started playing better and getting better equipment. We had more and better covers, and we already had some own songs. So we thought that the band should have 2 guitar players. Mihail was now playing the guitar and we started looking for a bass player. We made rehearses with 2 bassist but we didn't think it would work. So we called Martin, who was the one who fit best up to that moment, even if he wasn't the best player we had "tested". All of this happened during 1999. In November 1999, Samlag recorded an album with 6 songs, named "I have no style", which is not bad, considering it is our first recording (I had already made a record with other bands). In the begining of 2000 Soninho started playing in Samlag as a bassist. He stayed in the band for more than a year. However, he was too busy with his other band, so we called his friend, Alex, who is our present bass player. What sucks is that we had never played in a show, only in barbecues or friends' parties. But we are working on it. |
