Nut Curculio
Early - mid June is a critical time for nut curculio control in orchards that have a history of damage. We have found larvae developing in hickory nuts and pecan nuts are reaching the size for oviposition. Adults overwinter in the leaf litter and migrate in from woodlots adjacent to the orchard. Look for larvae without legs to identify the insect when you cut open the infested pecans. Damage found in 'Pawnee' and the damaged nuts were still on the tree. |
