We only had 4 y's on Saturday. Y1 had to scratch for the weekend due to mechanical problems, we had an S boat with a qualifying driver to fill the field. On Sunday we added the Y17.

The water was rough on Saturday, good on Sunday. Our turnout was low however
the event had 28 entries for all classes. It was a very good event with the
exception of "Racer Bob's" accident. Every entry on Saturday got a sponsor
contribution of $50. This event deserves a better boat count.

The temperature was hot and the wind was low until the late afternoon. Four Mods showed.
Saturday was a day gone bad for all of us. We started 3 times and could not get a heat in. Boats either could not start or as in the last time, Garry Wamsley turned over in the first turn. Wet and upset, he was ok. The motor was dried out and the boat patch with tape. Sunday was better. We got 3 started in the 1st heat and 4 in the 2nd.

The finals on Sunday were interesting to say the least. At first we went out and George Kennedy hit a buoy so the black flagged the heat. Two different turn judges disagreed on the call so it was left uncalled. In the second running I led the pack in T-23 till the second lap when George Kennedy in T-80 caught me. The water was pretty rough and I hooked in Kennedy's wake and went inside a buoy and was assessed a 1 minute penalty. report from TJ Browning.........(8/22/00)

The wind was strong all day and some of the races were run with white caps showing at the pit area. The first turn was very lumpy and the wind was blowing down the back chute. At the start, Russ hand lane one, Valerie had 2, Thorne -3, Cheezum -4. Bobby Murray was on the outside and had a perfect full speed start. Cal was late and put on a rocket run up the front chute only to break a prop and strut. Out of the first turn it was Murray and Dodge and some of the rest got wet. Cheezum jumped to third and Liddycoat took up 4th. At the end of lap 2 Russ passed Bobby and led by a thousand feet going into the last turn. The 2 stroke looked like it ran out of gas but limped to the finish line. Bobby crossed the line first. Joe Cheezum ran well and showed that he has cast out the gremlins that have dogged his efforts all season. Bobby Murray won the Hampton Cup. This is the 5th year in a row that a 1.5 has won the Hampton Cup (Wamsley, Cheezum, Cheezum, Shane, Murray) report from Russ Dodge and Joe Cheezum.........(8/22/00)

The mods ran 1 heat today. Rough water put the heat at 3 laps. Phipps and Dodge chose to sit it out as seeded boats. 8 ran. Murray jumped the gun and after two laps pulled in the pits. Valerie ran well and won the heat. Cheezum was running well in second but put a hole in a sponson. He will be repared for the Sunday final. Thorne took second, McCowan finished third, with Butler fourth. Collins went dead after making a start but found a throttle linkage broke and they are also good to go. Alicia got away from the dock but did not get a start. Order of finish was:
