Series Reference Lists
(Last Updated: 27 August 2004)
In this section, you can see at a glance what is in each Yowie series. Variations are not listed; you just get the very basic series lists. Newbies to Yowie collecting can get the lowdown on what is in each series quickly and easily here. But perhaps even experienced collectors will find this a useful reference source also. The lists for the first four series include two sets of numbers: those used by the now-defunct Yowie.com, and those used by Cadbury. The Cadbury numbers are in parentheses. I believe Yowie.com's numbering is (or perhaps I should now say was) better because it indicates the actual release order. But I realise some of you prefer Cadbury's numbering system, because that is more "official". However, please note that the lists for Series One-Four are ordered according to Yowie.com's numbering system. For all remaining series except Series Five, Cadbury has sensibly put the animal number on the paper, so their order is followed. Both Cadbury and Yowie.com seem to have used the same numbers for Series Five, although the time Series Five was released might have been the time Yowie.com was reaching the end of the road.
At the end of each list will be some "Points of Note". These will explain some of the things every Yowie collector needs to know about that particular series.
Scroll down the page to see the Series One Reference List. Links to the other Series Reference Lists are below that.

POINTS OF NOTE
1) Being Series One, this is the series that started the whole Yowie thing off. Yowie chocolates containing Series One animals first went on sale in May 1997, in Australia. They started being sold in New Zealand a few months later, though I can't remember the exact date. 2) This series has more variations than any other, and has all the really expensive variations such as the fluro-orange Dingo, multi-coloured Kookaburra, grey Bilby, grey bearded Koala, large-feelered Spiny Lobster, large Sea Lion, large Green Christmas Beetle, large Yabby, yada yada yada. Many mould variations, such as changes to the logo and animal name, are not well known, but occurred quite frequently in this series. 3) Officially at least, Series One has gone out of production. However, the Yowie men at least are still being found in Yowies that are supposed to contain Forgotten Friends animals! Some Series One animals are starting to become more sought after, but these are still very common and in most cases, aren't worth more than $1 still (and are virtually worthless if they don't have a paper). 4) The hardest to find common Series One animals are the Dingo, Eastern Bearded Dragon and Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo. 5) The six Yowie characters are all pretty common, with the hardest to find these days being Squish. They have sunk in value from $10-15 to $1-4, but may go up again in the years to come, provided Cadbury stops inserting them at random in the very latest Yowies. 6) Not only are there more variations in the toys in this series than any other, but more paper variations too, with at least four different kinds of papers you can collect: "non-toxic", regular green, regular black and "scientific". And that's just the animal papers. Yowie men papers have variations too. Click here for more info on this. 7) An interesting thing to note about the papers is that no animal has been issued with all four different types. None of the 11 animals issued with "Non-Toxic" papers were issued with "scientific" papers. All 50 animals in the series had regular green or black papers. 8) The only native New Zealand animals in this series are the Tuatara and Kiwi.
