well...if you've gotten this far, you've figured out that Escaflowne is going to be released on DVD!

we're all very extatic about this of course!

OOOH~! News:

ok... apparently (since i last updated... which was FOREVER AGO), i have been informed that you don't get the tarot cards with the first dvd... instead, after you buy ALL the dvds, you can mail in and get your tarot deck.  sorry for the misinformation.

again, it hasn't been "announced", i did a little research and found that they will be including a set of Hitomi's tarot cards in the first dvd!  FUN~!

for some reason, it seems that Bandai closed down its warehouses all over the world from October 3 to October 9, 2000.  This might account for the fact that i STILL have yet to get the first dvd in the mail!!! :(

although it hasn't been "announced", i did a little research of my own and found that because of the release delay, the dvds will now all be BILINGUAL!

(that means they'll be in English dub, English sub, and raw Japanese! Yay!)

Here's a little news...

Fox originally wanted to change the music on Escaflowne (DUMP YOKOKANNO?!?!) but Bandai said no way. Music will be unchanged. As we knowthe DVD has been delayed until October. Jerry reassured fans that thediscs are UNCUT dub/sub and he said they will have a lot of extras -including extra footage. (I believe some Esca fan can fill in thedetails - I just recall something about the Japanese release having someextra material...)

(animeondvd.com)

it will be released by groups of 3 and 4 episodes per DVD.

For instance, the 1st release will be episodes 1-4. It WAS SCHEDULED for release on June 6, 2000...but network a$$holes at FOX decided to do some mean stuff and reschedule for October.

it'll be US$29.98, however, you can order it from www.dvdexpress.com for US$17.99 (40% off)

The first release will be entitled Escaflowne: Dragons and Destiny Vol. 1, but unfortuinately, it will only be available with the English dub, unlike many anime titles that let you pick english dub, english sub, or raw japanese.

This is the proposed cover of Vol. 1:

However, they may decide to change the art if they so feel like it. The dubbing will be done by the "reliable" Ocean Studios.

Apparently, Ocean Studios is supposed to be pretty good, but considering the sound clips i've heard, and the REALLY TRULY horrible tendencies of dubbing, i somehow doubt it.

If you want to hear the sound clips i have (by way of the Escaflowne ML), just click on the corresponding link:

 - dilandau with his dragonslayers

 - folken and dilandau talking to and about Dornkirk

it's pretty bad. This is also going to be the dubbed release on FOXKids! in September, 2000.

so now that you know about the DVD release of Escaflowne, if you know anything that i didn't include, please e-mail it to me!
