The Royal Guard is Lekali's army. It consists of unUnited fighters of different ranks and skills. The Royal Guard has a permanent headquarters in Ranake, but often travels. They are often sent to battle with the Dark Ones (usually unUnited Dark One armies), to protect cities and towns from various attacks, and to generally keep the peace.
The Royal Guard is divided up by fighters' ranks and main skills:
General
The General is the leader of the Royal Guard. He or she directs the army, and makes most all major decisions. The General is usually an experienced Royal Guard member who made his or her way up through the ranks over time. The General takes his or her orders directly or indirectly from the Queen, and rarely from anyone else. He or she has the authority to direct anyone (within reason) in the Royal Guard.
Colonels
There are two Colonels in the Royal Guard. There is one for each regiment. Each Colonel is responible for his or her regiment, and direct them when needed. Colonels must also be very experienced to have such a high ranking position. The Colonels have authority over the Lieutenant Colonels and soldiers in their regiment, and take their orders mostly from the General.
Lieutenant Colonels
There are six total Lieutenant Colonels in the Royal Guard. There are three in each regiment, one for each battalion. One Lieutenant Colonel oversees the Infantry Battalion, one oversees the Horsemen Battalion, and one oversees the Special Forces Battalion. The Lieutenant Colonels have their higher rankings because they are the most knowledgeable and skilled in the skills of their battalion. They take their orders from the Colonel of their regiment or from the General, and have authority over the soldiers in their battalion.
Soldiers
The soldiers make up the majority of the Royal Guard. They are divided into six battalions according to skills. There are two Infantry Battalions, two Horsemen Battalions, and two Special Forces Battalions. There are three battalions in each regiment, one of each type. The soldiers take their orders from the Lieutenant Colonels, Colonels, and General.
Infantry - The Infantry soldiers are footsoldiers (those who fight with sword and shield), scouts (skilled with sword and shield, but used to scout when needed) and pikesmen (those who fight with pikes, and mostly fight against mounted enemies).
Horsemen - The Horsemen soldiers are riders (those who ride on horseback and fight with sword and shield) and horseback archers (those who ride on horseback and fight with bow and arrow).
Special Forces - The Special Forces soldiers are mages (those skilled in the ways of either or both types of magic, and also skilled in healing), snipers (those who kill with bow and arrow from a hidden position), and saboteurs (those who specialize in the destruction of enemy tools and weapons).
