Busy Squirrel
A Fingerplay
If your little ones are feeling squirrelly this fall, keep them moving with the motions of this action poem. Or provide youngsters with acorns to "bury" under a table as you chant the first verse of the poem and then "dig up" when you recite the second verse.
Gray squirrel, gray squirrel
Doesn't make a sound,
As he buries acorns
Underneath the ground.
Later, when it's cold
And food cannot be found,
The gray squirrel will dig
His acorns from the ground.
