MEMORIES

Based on some situations originated by James Cameron.

Don’t be scared,
You’ll never change what’s been and gone…

Her hand gripped his tightly. He was slowly sinking.

The last things he heard—nothing joyous at all. Screams.

In the distance, the cries of women, children, and men deafened her.

May your smile shine on;
Don’t be scared,
Your destiny will keep you warm…

His breaths slowed. They were shattered, and he continued to shudder from cold.

Her own breath made smoke in the frigid night air, her own full lips trembling with concern.

Her mind begged her not to believe that he was giving up, not to believe that he was dying.

"No…please. Hold on!" Her words were dead; she, in fact, was cold as well.

Her eyelashes flicked small icicles from them, and as she tuned back to the noise, she realized it.

There was none. Everything had gone eerily silent. Were they all dead? Had they all escaped?

‘Cause all of the stars have faded away,
Just try not to worry,
You’ll see them someday…

Just then, she could hear her lover calling her, drawing her by his voice, his urgency.

Immediately, her mind, her attention, and her heart were his for the taking.

Their hands had not let go of one another’s until now, and she knew that he was letting go.

Not just of her hand, but of life, as well, and she couldn’t comprehend it.

Just take what you need and be on your way,
And stop crying your heart out…

He told her he loved her. He told her how much she meant to him and to hold on. To live.

Then they had separated for good. She’d promised him never to let go. And she wouldn’t.

Her heart would long for him forever, but she knew that in time they would meet again.

They were soulmates, the two of them. Their destiny had just been put on pause for a short time.

Stop crying your heart out…

The End.
