THE COST OF BEING RICH
Chapter Twenty-One
I never saw Rose again.
Since then, I’ve married a beautiful and
wealthy woman. She is everything society expects of her with no personality to
speak of. We led a good life until the recent stock market crash, which has
left us with nothing. Personally, I wouldn’t mind living on the streets. But I
can’t do it with a wife and kids. They’re suffocating me until there is hardly
any air left.
In a couple of minutes now, I will leave this
world with a pure heart. In writing this story, I have changed my mind. I don’t
want you to sympathize with me. All I want is for you to know my story, and
that there was a man named Caledon Hockley who didn’t make very good choices.
I bid you farewell, for soon I will finally
be free.
The End.
