Ironthorn History

Ironthorn was born on a winter’s night in 1998 as a Chapter in the now defunct Crimson Knights Medieval Reenactment Society as a Principality. The CK lasted all of one year before internal strife from members who really thought that they were Dukes and Kings in real life as much as they were in medieval reenactment.

From the ashes of the CK, raised the UEMA (United Empires of the Middle Ages) the members that managed to make it through the CK disaster, were bound and determined to make a go at a NEW Medieval Society that was limited in the Political Bovine Scatology that was so prevalent in other Societies.

UEMA lasted almost Two years, before the same ugly snake raised its head again to strike at the very foundation of the organization. And UEMA imploded and fell to the wayside, which was in 2001. My wife and I were bound and determined to make a new reenactment society, and so the Empire of Ironthorn was born. Ironthorn grew so and steadily to the size that 2003 we had 35 chapters across the USA and in Canada and Australia.

It really grew to fast, to the point I was working 40+ hours a week on my regular job coming home and answering anywhere from 50 to 200 emails on questions, advice, information ect. It finally got to the point where I was not getting in bed until one or two o’clock in the morning on top of holding fighter practices locally.

In 2003 I was done both physically and mentally just plain burnt out, I asked for help and even tried to pay members across the USA to help out on the work load but to no avail.

So in the fall of 2003 I closed the doors with the exception of the Canadian group which I allow to operate using the Ironthorn name.

Now to 2007, I had always toyed with the idea of a fantasy type organization and finding Dagorhir was just the thing, already built, politics would be only on a local level as who cared if someone wanted to call themselves a Knight or if a person wanted to be a King woohoo if they could get someone to follow them GREAT!!!

Well there you go, just a brief overview of where Ironthorn has came from and now where it is, we really expect the chapter to grow as we still have many former members of Ironthorn who are in this area. One thing about it……I can PLAY and have FUN...WOOHOO
