The Order of The Knights Of Ironthorn

Charter of the Knightly Order Empire of Ironthorn Hold yourself to a higher standard but hold yourself above no man. Herein lie the rules and orders for those who would seek knighthood in the Empire of Ironthorn. These are to be learned and followed. Not only by those who aspire to the Peerage but by any who attain the rank and taught to others by those that have been received into the Peerage. To set aside these rules is to set aside your rank and will bring about an inquest as to the person’s right to continue as a Peer of the Realm. 1. Peers will treat all others with respect and show kindness to those who are above and below their station. To treat others in this manner is to show the strength of self needed for your position. To show disdain and contempt for your fellows reveals a weakness of character that could remove a person from the Order. 2. Teach those that ask. Peers of the Realm will share their knowledge in a way that is available to any that would seek it. Your knowledge is the treasure of the Realm and as such is to be spread and multiplied through your leadership. 3. Knights of the Realm will take squires. Squires are our future. Teachings and work in all forms will meld the squires into the leaders the Realm needs for our future. All areas should be taught. Combat to dance as there is no subject that is useless. If you cannot provide the teachings yourself you will find others for the instruction. 4. Chivalry will be taught and followed by any person in the Order. Courtly manners as well as acts of chivalry on the field will be followed. 5. Problems concerning a Peer of the Order will be brought before the Grand Master. All problems will be handled by the Order and the Crown and not be brought before the public. This will save the Crown, the Order and the persons involved from needless embarrassment. A Peer will not defame another in a public forum. This will bring censure to the offending party no matter the truth behind the words. 6. Knights will make themselves available to train and test any who would fight in the Empire. All fighters will be tested by a Peer of the Order. Only those Peers that have received training in combat may conduct these tests. Testing will be fair but the Peer of the Order will decide those that pass or fail. These are the base rules for the Knightly Order. Others will follow as the need arises and the Order and Empire grows. Amendments to the charter will be written by the current Grand Master and then discussed with the Peers of the Order and the Crown. The ultimate need for new amendments will remain within the confines of the Grand Master. These changes are not absolute but to revoke or change amendments ( no changes will be made to the base rules) the Grand Master should discuss this within the Peerage and Crown. Heed and follow the words above that were set forth the first year of our Empire. Hail the Crown and salute the populace. By order of,

Baron Sir Alaric Bjornson 1st Grandmaster of the Knightly Order of Ironthorn. July,1998-June,2001
