(this quote is rather long, but it is one of my favorites...)
"My heart exclaimeth: O wretched man that I am! Yea, my heart
sorroweth because of my flesh; my soul grieveth because of mine
iniquities...Nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted. My God hath
been my support...He hath filled me with his love...O then, if I have
seen so great things, if the Lord in his condescension unto the
children of men hath visited men in so much mercy, why should my
heart weep and my soul linger in the valley of sorrow, and my flesh
waste away, and my strength slacken, because of min afflictions?
Awake, my soul! No longer droop in sin...Rejoice, O my heart, and
cry unto the the Lord, and say: O Lord, I will praise thee forever;
yea, my soul will rejoice in thee, my God, and the rock of my
salvation. O Lord, wilt thou redeem my soul? Wilt thou deliver me
out of the hands of mine enemies? Wilt thou make me that I may shake
at the appearance of sin? May the gates of hell be shut continually
before me, because that my heart is broken and my spirit is contrite!
O Lord, wilt thou not shut the gates of thy righteousness before me,
that I may walk in the path of the low valley, that I may be strict in
the plain road! O Lord, wilt thou encircle me around the robe of thy
righteousness! O Lord, wilt thou make my path straight before me!
O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever. Yea,
I know that God will give liberally to him that asketh. Yea, my God
will give me, if I ask not amiss; therefore I will lift up my voice
unto thee; yea, I will cry unto thee, my God, the rock of my
righteousness. Behold, my voice shall forever ascend up unto thee, my
rock and mine everlasting God. Amen."
2 Nephi 4:17-35
"For I will forgive you of your sins with this commandment -- that you
remain steadfast in your minds in solemnity and the spirity of prayer,
in bearing testimony to all the world of those things which are
commincated untyo you."
Doctrine & Covenants 84:61
"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give
unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient
for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble
themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak
things become strong unto them."
Ether 12:27
"And I, John, saw that [Jesus] received not of the fulness at the
first, but received grace for grace; And he received not of the
fulness at frist, but continued from grace to grace, until he received
a fulness; and thus he was called the Son of God, because he received
not of the fulness at the first... For if you keep my commandments you
shall receive of his fulness, and be glorified in me as I am in the
Father; therefore, I say unto you, you shall receive grace for grace."
Doctrine & Covenants 93:12-14,20
"And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is
not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength.
And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby
he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order."
Mosiah 4:27
"Condemn me not because of mine imperfection, neither my father,
because of his imperfection, neither them who have written before him;
but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you
our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have
been."
Mormon 9:31
"And they all cried with one voice, saying: Yea, we believe all the
words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also, we konw of their
surety and truth, because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which
has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no
more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually."
Mosiah 5:2
"Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say
unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to
pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise. And
the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal
purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and
bringeth about the salvation of many souls."
