Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings
Review of Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings by Titanlord
Most definetely my second favorite game (Heroes 3 is first, of course), Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings , is perhaps one of the most popular games today. Spanning over 1000 years, this real-time strategy war game is extremely true to history yet is extremely fun and easy to play.
Age of Empires 2 is a real-time strategy combat game, which means play is not stopped (unless you pause it). You start with just a basic town center, where you create villagers, your resource gathering units. You can choose one of 13 civilizations, each with their own unique units and technologies. You can choose from the Britons, the Goths, the Saracens, the Chinese, and more. You start in the the dark age , were their are few buildings and technologies available to you. Once you have enough resources and the required buildings, you can advance to the next age, the feudal age , were more units, buildings, and tecnologies are available to you. Then you can advance to the castle age were you can build a castle. At the castle, you can recruit your civilization's unique unit. Once you have at least a castle, and the required resources, you can advance to the imperial age, were even more units and technologies are available to you. Age of Empires 2 also includes an advanced map editor. From that, you can rework the AI script to make the computer player act accordingly.
This game recieves five out of five stars *****
