As I had yearned

And as the world turned
and as I had yearned,
she stepped f’ward into my existence.

Like still water slipping
into a still pond,
indiscernible ripples of cognisance.

The sea at our feet,
the sun at our hearts,
the wind gently fanning suggestions.

Our hands then both met,
unsuredness swept,
assuaged by the others intentions.

And just for an instant,
(a heartbeat or two)
my world seemed coherent once more.

The symmetry set,
my pendulum stopped
whilst strolling with her on that shore.

And as I had yearned,
(the need long interned)
to have heart and mind reconcile.

My manner subdued
and cynicism soothed,
in calming brown eyes and warm smile.
