The Best English Words

So you'll read the title and wonder what the hell I'm talking about. I could just not tell you and be really mean, but I do feel that this needs explaining even if the title does, for some reason, make sense to you. You see, this little section of Et cetera comes from Et cetera: The Binder, which I carry around school when I feel like doing something strictly non-academic. I have a sheet of paper in there that lists all of my favourite English words. This is my opinionated list of English's greatest hits. Usually based on just how cool the word sounds to me. For example, most people will agree that the word "pandemonium" has a certain ring to it. It just sounds pretty cool. There is no deep philosophical intelligence behind it. I just think "pandemonium" sounds pretty good.

Also, I would like to be able to post a similar list based on several other languages, but this of course would require me to speak those other languages and that's hardly something I will take up for the sake of an insignificant website that so few people visit.

Anyway, here's the list, in no particular order, of what I believe to be the best English words (always subject to addition and change):
