Down Time

Chapter One

Terrence Thorne slowly walked out of his office at Luthan Risk International. He locked the door as he left, marveling at the thought of having a few weeks off from work. He loved being a Kidnap and Ransom Consultant for one of the world's most prestigious agencies. The pay was excellent, the perks were fantastic, and the work intense. He never ceased to feel satisfaction when one of his negotiations, or deployments, as it was called in the business, ended in the safe release of the hostage. After several years in the British Special Air Service, his training and background were ideal for Terry to make the move into the K&R industry.

It was times like this, when he was between jobs, that his mind was free to reflect on what was missing in his life. He thought about taking a trip home to Australia to visit his mum, but decided against it. If he stayed here in London, he might be able to convince his ex-wife to let their son, Harry, come stay with him for a few days.

Terry made his way out of the building, taking the glass lift down, not noticing the view of the Thames. Cynthia wasn't a bad woman, really. She just hadn't liked Terry being gone all the time, especially after their son was born. She preferred a man home in bed with her every night. He chuckled, thinking of her last email to him. She was getting married, again. He hoped this one lasted longer than the last two. Harry could use the stability, even though he was at school most of the time. At eleven, he was at that tough in-between stage, caught between youth and teen. Terry realized he hadn't met Michael, Cyn's new fiancé. Probably just as well, he mused.

Pulling his collar up against the chill in the air, Terry sighed, feeling every bit of his 34 years. He walked down to Luthan's private car park, pulled his silver Lexus LX470 out of its assigned place, and drove the short distance out of town to his house. It always took him a few days to adjust when he got back from an assignment. This last one had been particularly tough. It was the first time he'd been solo, his mentor and partner Dino leaving Luthan Risk for Vanguard, an American firm that was one of Luthan's chief competitors. He'd tried to get Terry to come with him, but Terry declined. He had been treated well by Luthan so far, and after seven years with them, he didn't want to just pick up and leave. Not to mention the fact that Vanguard was based out of New York, not London. Terry got to see his son twice a month if he was lucky, and he didn't want to lose the little time he had by flying back and forth between the States and the UK.

Finally arriving at his house, Terry hit the remote button on the ceiling of his Lexus, opening up the garage. The grounds looked immaculate, as always. Luthan took good care of their employees, maintaining the homes of their consultants while they were away.

Terry opened up the side door, closing the garage door on his way in. Tossing the keys on the counter, he slid out of his jacket and hung it up in the hallway. He paused, looking around. Sometimes he felt like a stranger in his own home. He wandered over to the refrigerator, noting that it was fully stocked. Opening a beer, he walked into the living room, easing into his favorite chair and stretching out his legs. He flipped on the telly, his mind elsewhere as the BBC news told of the latest happenings.

He sipped his beer, thinking about how nice it was to be able to fully relax after the last eight months. Deployments could run anywhere from one month to two years, but fortunately, most of Terry's averaged about two to three months. This last one, in Azerbaijan, had been long, drawn out, and harrowing. The kidnappers had asked for ten million US dollars, and gave him a lot of trouble, keeping him in doubt if they would even get the cargo, K&R speak for hostage, out alive. Finally, he'd gotten them down to two million, and the transfer was completed. Ian Havery, his boss at Luthan, gave Terry a glowing review for this difficult extraction, and some extra time off. Well deserved, thought Terry, as he settled in for a nap.

He was startled awake by the phone. Only a few people had his private home number. "Hello?"

"Hey, it's about time you got back." Came the voice on the other end.

"Dino." Terry answered. "What's up?"

"I thought maybe we could join up with Wyatt and get sloshed." Dino replied. "I'm gonna be here in London for a few days. Management assignment, you know." He said in a smug tone.

"You always were good at kissing up, mate. I just got back yesterday, you know."

Dino laughed at him. "Yeah,I thought you'd have found some female company by now. You're slipping."

"Don't I know it." Terry chuckled. "Meet you at the usual, about 10?"

"We'll be there."

Terry chuckled again as Dino hung up without even a goodbye. Dino was always on the go. He never seemed to slow down. At five years his junior, Terry had days when he didn't want to get out of bed. Vitamins, he thought. Should look into that.

He stretched and looked at the clock. Only 7 p.m. He had some time. Switching off the telly, he headed back into the kitchen, raiding the refrigerator and making himself some dinner. Terry wasn't much of a cook, but he could do most of the basics, with a couple specialties that he saved to impress female company.

Women. That was a particularly sore spot for Terry right now. He'd been divorced six years, but still hadn't found anyone to fill that void in his life. Hazard of the job, he knew. His relationships usually didn't last beyond a month or two. Most women didn't want a boyfriend that was rarely home, called them from different places every few weeks, and couldn't ever plan for special occasions in case his job called him away. His last girlfriend, Shannon, had turned out to be a real bitch. She'd really had him fooled, acting like she was okay with his traveling, odd schedules, and such. Until the night he'd returned unexpectedly to the flat they'd shared in London, entering quietly to surprise her. He'd been the one to be surprised, finding her in bed with another man. He'd packed up his things and moved back to his house, not waiting to hear her "explanation".

That had been over a year ago, but Terry had hardly been home to even miss the fact that there wasn't anyone in his life. Maybe Dino had the right idea, hooking up with a different local woman in whatever country he was assigned. When it was time to go, he left without a second glance. No complications, no attachments was his motto.

Terry sighed, picking up the dishes and putting them in the sink. He wasn't going to worry about it right now. Besides, he wasn't the "love `em and leave `em" type. Oh sure, he'd had a fling or two here and there. It made him shudder to think of some of the things he'd done in his youth, before he'd caught the eye of the General's daughter and she'd roped him into marriage.

He headed down the hall to his bedroom, reminding himself to call the school tomorrow to arrange for he and Harry to spend some time together. Maybe a rugby match, he thought. They certainly shared a love for that sport. Smiling to himself, he decided to take a shower.

He crossed over to the bed, taking off the shirt and loosened tie he'd left on when he'd fallen asleep earlier. His shoes, socks, trousers and briefs followed the shirt and tie, forming a nice pile on the floor. Terry chuckled; he wasn't usually a slob, but it felt good to let things go for a change.

Naked, he walked over to the master bathroom. He paused in front of the mirror, his eyes perusing the man he saw there. He was thinner than the last time he was home, he thought. At nearly six feet tall, Terry was solidly built, with a nice muscular form thanks to regular workouts, even when on the job. He loved to swim, and did so every chance he got. It helped to relieve the tension and frustration he felt from being involved in the tense negotiations, where another person's life revolved on his skill and instincts.

He ran a hand through his short brown hair, amusement showing in his blue-green eyes as he finished his inspection and stepped into the shower. Turning on the water full blast, he let the hot water pound his weary form. He stood like that for a while, the massaging streams of water relieving the tension in his shoulders. He grabbed the shampoo, pouring a generous amount in his palm then working it through his hair. His sudsy hands spread the shampoo over his neck and shoulders, then rubbed over his chest, creating swirled patterns in the sparse hair. He rinsed out his hair, then reached for the bottle of liquid soap.

Rubbing the soap over his torso, he spread the soap lower, over his stomach, his movements becoming languid as he closed his eyes, feeling his pulse quicken as his hands slipped down over his penis. It began to grow longer and thicker, becoming engorged with blood as he slowly stroked it with one hand, his other hand reaching to cup his balls, cradling them lightly. His head fell back and a small groan escaped his lips as he began to stroke faster, his hand moving rhythmically on his full, hard cock. The water beat relentlessly into his back, enveloping him in wetness and steam.

Images of a nameless, faceless woman danced in his mind, the mystical woman of his dreams inviting him to make love to her. He imagined his hands on her breasts, teasing her nipples into hard peaks as she moaned her approval, her pussy slick with her wetness. His breath caught in his throat, moaning louder as he could almost feel her moist, hot sheath wrapping around him. His stroking grew rough, almost uneven, time suspended as he hovered on the edge of orgasm. Oh God, it felt so good, he thought, his muscles tightening and back arching as he felt the first spasm. He cried out, semen spurting as his hand still stroked, drawing out the pleasure until it became nearly painful.

Leaning against the tile wall for support, Terry let his pounding heart and breathing slow down, feeling almost boneless after such a powerful release. He rinsed the remainder of soap off his body, then shut off the shower, reaching out and grabbing a soft, fluffy towel.

He dried off, stepping out of the bathroom, the towel draped around his neck. Wandering into the bedroom, he went to the dresser, picking out some clean briefs and socks. He sat on the edge of the bed, towel drying his hair a bit more, then slipping on the briefs. Luckily, their usual hangout was a small pub, so casual attire was more than appropriate. Terry grabbed a pair of jeans and a polo shirt from the closet, finished getting dressed, then went back to the bathroom to comb his hair and shave.

He checked himself out in the bedroom mirror. Not bad, not bad at all. He stopped at the dresser. What the fuck, he thought, and picked up a bottle of Drakkar. It had been a gift from Shannon, her favorite men's cologne, and he hardly wore it. He put some on before he could change his mind.

All he needed to do now was call a taxi. He picked up his wallet, put on his watch, grabbed his jacket and keys, and left out the front door when he heard the cabbie beep the horn. With any luck, he'd not be back till morning.

Chapter Two

Terry arrived at the pub a few minutes after 10 p.m. Slipping in the front door, he spied Dino and Wyatt, an old K&R buddy who worked for Inherent Risk, sitting at a booth in the back. Dino looked good, he thought. Wyatt, on the other hand, looked tired. He'd been talking about retiring for a few years, but hadn't gotten around to actually making the final push.

Terry made his way through the crowd, oblivious to the looks he got from the female patrons. "Hey!" They turned to greet him.

"Terry!" Dino stood up and gave him a slap on the back. "Thought you were gonna stand us up for a minute there. You decide to come work at Vanguard yet?"

Terry laughed, clapping him on the shoulder then sliding in the seat next to Wyatt. "Yeah, right. You know better than that, mate."

Wyatt looked over at him. "I thought we agreed, no shop talk tonight."

"Fair enough. I'll get this round." Terry signaled the waitress for three beers. From where they were sitting, practically the whole pub was visible. He looked around, noticing a few nice looking women here and there.

Dino caught him checking things out. "Anything interesting?" He grinned at his friend.

"Maybe, mate. Just maybe." Terry caught the eye of a pretty blonde. Hmm, she looked like a nice prospect. He was tired of waking up alone.

Dino's next comment caught him off guard. "My sister and a friend of hers are visiting on vacation for the next month. They're supposed to meet us here in a little bit."

Wyatt interrupted. "Sister? What sister? You been holding out on us, Dino?" He finished off his drink.

"Sandy? I thought she was in California." Terry nudged Wyatt, handing him another beer.

"She and her friend Jesse decided to take a month off and travel around Britain. They flew in yesterday." Dino shot a mock warning look at Wyatt. "Hands off, old man." He grinned. "Besides, you're not her type."

Two women coming in the door caught his attention. The tall redhead he recognized as Dino's sister. He had met her before, at one of Dino's infamous birthday parties. The resemblance was uncanny. Both siblings were tall and slim with red hair and fair skin, although Sandy had green eyes, not blue like her brother's. The girl with her was more petite, several inches shorter than her friend. Her shoulder-length, dark blonde hair had lighter gold in it that shone in the dim lighting, and as they got closer, he looked into a pair of blue-green eyes that reminded him of the waters off the Great Barrier Reef back home. Now where on earth did he get THAT flight of fancy?

Shaking his head slightly to clear his thoughts, he rose to greet them, as did Dino and Wyatt. Oh, she was petite all right, barely reaching the top of his shoulder. Dino made the introductions, the girls slipping into the seat next to him. He ordered white wine for his sister, sweet cider for Jesse, and another round for the men.

"Dino mentioned you're going to be on holiday for a month." Terry threw out a question to both of them, his eyes seeking Jesse's lowered ones. "Is there anyplace in particular you're going to visit?" He was rewarded when she looked at him, although Sandy, the more outgoing of the two, answered him.

"We're staying at a friend's flat here in town, and Jesse's hired a car, so we've got the run of the place." She smiled, flipping her red hair back over her shoulders. "I just want to relax a bit. She's the one who wants to play tourist." Sandy threw a mirthful glance at her friend.

"Oh come on." Jesse flashed a smile, giving Terry a look at her dimples. "I didn't get to travel much the last time I was here, so I want to make up for it." She looked at Terry, pausing for a moment. "I want to see ALL of London and the countryside, then head over to Wales, and of course, up to Scotland. Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and..." She seemed to hesitate, then continued. "Glasgow. A day trip to Ayr, and a visit at the Isle of Man, too."

Terry smiled at her. "That sounds like a busy trip. You mentioned you've been here before?" A shadow of some emotion crossed her face, gone so quickly Terry was sure he must have imagined it.

"I lived in Scotland for six months a few years ago. You're Australian?" She took a sip of her cider, eyes on his face, waiting for his reply.

"Yeah, that's right." He hadn't imagined the quick subject change. There was something she didn't want to talk about.

Sandy, Dino, and Wyatt all continued the conversation. Terry sat back and listened to the chatter, trying to figure out if he'd offended Jesse in some way, or if she was naturally quiet.

Wyatt brought up the other question that had been in his mind. "So Jesse, isn't that a man's name?" He laughed, as if to say not to take it personally.

Jesse giggled, her eyes meeting Terry's for a brief instant. Wyatt was inquisitive, flirtatious, but basically harmless, if you could ignore the fact that he drank like a fish. His British accent added to his charm, although his speech was starting to slur a bit. "Actually, my name's Jennifer." Terry couldn't take his eyes off her as she blushed, then looked at Wyatt. "Jesse is a nickname I picked up. When five girls in your class are all named Jennifer, you've got to be able to tell us apart. Jennifer, Jen, Jennie, and 'hey you' were already taken." She glanced over at Terry again, then looked down, as if embarrassed to be caught looking. She was sweet, and shy, he realized.

They all talked and laughed for a few more hours. Wyatt got stinking drunk, eventually staggering out to take a taxi home. Last call came, the ladies declining any more drinks, Dino and Terry ordering one last beer. Sandy had moved over to sit next to Terry when Wyatt left. Sitting directly across from Jesse, it gave him the chance to talk with her when Sandy and Dino started talking on family matters.

"Are you tired from the flight?"

"I'm not doing too badly, actually. For some reason, it's always worse on the trip back." She asked him a question of her own. "Have you ever been to California?"

Smiling slightly, his eyes caught hers. Those eyes could hypnotize a man, he thought. "I haven't been there in quite a while. Where do you live?"

"Near San Francisco, in San Jose, actually. What part did you visit?" Her eyes remained on his, making him feel like there were just the two of them in the room.

"I know the area. An old friend of mine has a house in Pebble Beach. It's a beautiful place." He could picture the two of them walking on the beach together. Whoa, he thought, slow down mate. You don't even know her. Something he intended to rectify.

Jesse gave him a wry smile. "My mom lives down there. Yes, it's gorgeous. I love Pacific Grove. It's so quaint and charming. Carmel is so touristy, but if you get up early, you can walk around without it being too crowded." She stretched, her arms reaching above her head.

Terry felt a jolt of desire as he watched, his eyes drawn to her full breasts as the material of her sweater pulled tight across her chest. His hands curled, as if imagining what it would feel like to cup them. He looked away, not wanting her to catch him staring at her. Glancing at Dino, he found the other man watching him. Damn. He'd forgotten how observant Dino was.

It was time for them to go. Terry held Jesse's jacket, liking the way she smiled a thank you as she slipped it on. He caught a whiff of her light, floral perfume as he slid a hand under her hair, pulling it out from where it was caught under her jacket. Mmm, so sweet, such silky hair.

Sandy and Dino led the way out, Jesse following, Terry right behind her. Sandy yawned, then giggled, the flight and the alcohol taking their toll. She and Jesse talked together for a moment, Jesse frowning and shaking her head at one point.

Dino went over to the girls. "Can we escort you home?" He winked at them, making them both laugh.

"Sandy's tired, but I'm wide awake." Jesse shook her head slightly. "A little tipsy, but wide awake. Guess I'm not used to the time yet."

Before Dino could say anything else, Terry stepped in. "Would you like to take a walk around? I'm not tired either." Dino shot him a warning look, and Terry met his eyes evenly. Dino might be protective of his sister and her friend, but Jesse was an adult.

"Oh, I'd like that!" She turned to Sandy. "You don't mind, do you? It's such a nice night."

Sandy smiled, picking up on Jesse's hint. "No, not at all. Dino can see me back. You have the address?"

"Yes, I'll be fine. I'm sure Terry will take good care of me." She gave him a look that told him she knew *exactly* what he was up to.

Sandy yawned again, oblivious to the current passing between the two of them. "Okay, I'll see you in the morning then. C'mon, Dino."

Dino whispered something into Jesse's ear, shaking his head and looking over at Terry again as she replied too softly for Terry to hear.

Flagging down a passing taxi, Dino and Sandy left after hugging Jesse goodnight. She turned to Terry, what could only be called an impish smile on her face. "You've got me all to yourself. Lay on, MacDuff."

He chuckled at the quote. Taking her arm, he pulled her closer. "You're a brave woman, Jesse. You hardly know me."

"Ah, that's where you're wrong. I've known Dino for three years, and if he trusts you, then that tells me all I need to know. He speaks very highly of you, and so does Sandy, for that matter. Frankly, I think he's disappointed you aren't interested in each other."

Well, she was certainly honest. "I've known Dino a long time. Sandy's almost as much of a sister to me as she is to him." Terry also knew Dino would pound him to bits if he so much as thought about touching his sister. He knew better than to mess with his family. That wasn't a way to keep a friendship.

"That's how Dino thinks of me, as another little sister." She smiled up at him. "You're wearing Drakkar. It suits you." He gave her a look of surprise, and she chuckled. "It's my favorite, but I've never known anyone who actually wears it. I noticed it when you helped me into my jacket." She gave him a cute little smile. If she weren't so shy, he'd think she was teasing him.

Terry laughed, willing to play the game. "I like your perfume, but I don't recognize it."

"Ysatis, by Givenchy. My mom gave me a sample of it when I was sixteen, and it's been my favorite ever since."

"Such sophisticated taste for someone so young." He smiled down at her as they kept walking.

"You're telling me! Champagne taste on a beer budget." Their soft laughter mingled on the air. The impish smile was back, her eyes twinkling as she said, "How old do you think I am, Terry?"

He winced, laughing. "Ouch! That's the worst question to ask a guy, and I think you know it."

"Yeah, I do know." She giggled. "C'mon, be honest."

"Okay, but just remember you asked." He paused, standing still on the pavement and looking down at her, the light from the streetlamp making her blonde hair shimmer. Looking at her face, he let his eyes travel over her face, starting at her eyes, down past her nose to her full, moist lips. His breath caught as the urge to kiss them became overwhelming. His eyes flicked to hers; she was looking down now, blushing as if embarrassed by his perusal. He slipped a finger under her chin, tilting her face up as he leaned down and brushed his lips gently over hers.

Pulling back slightly, he looked for any sign that she wanted him to stop. Her eyes met his, and their lips met again, softly but firmly. Terry closed his eyes and deepened the kiss, his arms coming around her, pulling her closer. Her hands went to his chest as if to push him back, but she slid them under his jacket and up to his shoulders.

Terry licked her lips lightly with his tongue, silently asking permission. Jesse opened her mouth, letting his tongue slide inside, meeting it with her own. They kissed like that for what seemed like an eternity, tongues exploring each other's mouths. Terry could feel his pulse pounding as he tasted her, feeling her breasts pressing against his chest as she curled her fingers in his hair, lifting herself up on tiptoe so that they touched the full length of their bodies.

Groaning softly, he pulled back, gently ending their kissing. She stayed close, leaning her head against his chest as he brought his arms around her shoulders. He laid his cheek against the top of her head, liking touch of it against of his skin. His heartbeat started to slow, and he remembered her question. "Twenty-five."

"Hmm?" He felt more than heard her questioning noise.

"How old I think you are. Twenty-five." His low chuckle vibrated in his chest.

She stepped back, looking up at him and smiling. "Thanks." He noticed she was blushing yet again. Just how shy was she? He would love to find out.

He smiled back at her. "Am I close?"

"I'm twenty-eight. Most people think I'm a few years younger. I tell them it's not the years, but the miles."

"You certainly don't look your age." He slipped an arm around her, liking the way she put her arm around his waist in return. They continued walking down the street. He had an idea and wanted to see if she'd go for it.

Stopping in front of a building with loud techno music blaring from the open doors, he gave her his version of a wicked grin. He watched her eyes twinkle as she picked up on his subtle humor. She gave him a questioning glance. "What?"

"Do you like to dance, love?" He nodded his head towards the doors.

She looked like a kid in a candy store. "I love to, but never get the chance!"

"Here it is. Let's go."

She followed him to the entrance, looking in at the dancers as he paid for the two of them, then guided her through the doors.

Chapter Three

Terry looked around the crowded nightclub, taking Jesse over to check in their coats. She laughed up at him, raising her voice to be heard over the music. "I'm glad now I decided to wear a skirt and sandals." He gave her a puzzled look. "I usually wear jeans and sneakers, but figured it would be fun to dress up a bit."

He smiled down at her, slipping his arms around her waist and planting a quick kiss on her neck as he murmured in her ear. "I bet you'd look good in just about anything. Would you like to dance?"

"I'd love to." She let him take her hand and led the way out onto the floor. The music was loud, with a good strong beat. He watched her dance, liking the way her body moved to the music.

They danced for a while, the music changing from song to song, keeping the same beat going. Terry felt more comfortable and relaxed than he had in a long time. He was enjoying being here with her, he realized. When was the last time he'd let himself just have fun? Her eyes were on his face, watching him. He flashed her a grin, and she smiled back at him, her eyes dropping then looking back at him. It was almost innocently sensual, and Terry moved closer to her as the music slowed, winding into a slower beat. Wrapping his arms around her, he put his hands just above her hips, bringing their bodies together and feeling the heat between them.

Jesse responded by wrapping her arms around his neck, sliding her body against him. Ah, she was so soft, curving in all the right places. He nearly groaned, his body reacting to the feel of her against him. He nuzzled her neck, their bodies moving as one, swaying to the music. So sweet, he thought, his tongue teasing her skin. Easy, mate, he chided himself. If he didn't stop soon they'd be on the floor.

The slow song ended, and Terry nodded towards the bar, a question in his eyes. Jesse nodded, and they made their way over, finding a table off to the side, away from the majority of the crowd. Ordering a cider for her and a beer for himself, Terry decided he wanted to get to know her better. Much better, he thought with a little smile.

Jesse noticed the smile. "What?"

"I was just thinking that we hardly know each other." Laughter danced in his eyes as he reached over and took one of her small hands into his large ones. "I want to know everything about you."

She blushed and looked down, not meeting his eyes. "Everything?"

Terry was a good judge of people. He had to be. There were times his very life depended on it. He knew without a doubt there was something she didn't want to tell him. He also knew he'd find out, sooner or later. "Absolutely, love. You can trust me." Flashing her a cheeky grin, he lifted her hand to his lips, placing a kiss on each of her fingers before turning it over to kiss her palm, letting his lips linger on her soft flesh. He watched her close her eyes and blush again.

"Stop that." Jesse giggled. "It tickles." She tugged her hand away, but was smiling. Taking a drink of her cider, she looked at him over the rim of the glass.

"So tell me, how long have you known Sandy and Dino?" He wanted to put her at ease. Somehow, he didn't think her shyness was an act. It was almost as if she was uncomfortable around men. No, that wasn't it, because she'd been fine with Dino and Wyatt. She was a mixture of sexual and innocent, and it was driving him crazy.

"I've been friends with Sandy for six years. We both worked at a children's camp one summer, and were roommates. I met Dino three years ago, at a family birthday party." She smiled. "I thought he was a nut, but he's been really great to me, treating me like family."

"Yeah, he's great like that." Terry smiled. "I missed his party that year. Too bad, we could have met sooner. If only I'd known." He sighed playfully.

Jesse laughed, surprising him with her next comment. "Dino's told me about you."

"Oh really?" Uh oh, he thought. Dino probably wouldn't deliberately say anything nasty, and if he had, Jesse most likely wouldn't have come with him tonight.

"He says you work far too much, never taking time between assignments, and that you take risks that no one else would." Jesse looked him right in the eye, a serious look on her face. "He also said there wasn't anyone else he would rather work with, and that he trusts you implicitly."

Terry had to look away, a little stunned by the honesty. He didn't think he took that much upon himself. It was his job, and he was good at it. Taking a drink, he caught her watching him. He looked at her in surprise as she reached over and took his hand.

"Terry." She traced the tip of her index finger over his palm, sending shivers down his spine. "I've got a lot going on at home right now. I'm juggling work, school, and life in general." Smiling now, she continued. "Sandy literally dragged me here, saying I needed a break. I'm glad now I came."

He kept her hand in his, standing up and pulling her up next to him. "It sounds like you and I both need to relax. Shall we dance?" She laughed and nodded, and they made their way back to the dance floor.

Their mood was light now, and they danced and laughed until they were both too tired to continue. Terry wanted to ask her back to his place, but wasn't sure if she'd come with him. He didn't want to move too quickly and frighten her away, but he felt so good when he was with her, and didn't want the night to end.

He picked up their jackets, and they walked outside. Studying her face in the streetlight, he reached out and touched her lightly on the cheek. "Are you tired, love?"

Jesse smiled up at him. "A little. What time is it?"

He looked at his watch. "Nearly 4 in the morning." Chuckling as she groaned, he slipped his arm around her and they started walking down the street towards where all the taxis were waiting for late night customers. "Jess?"

"Hmm?" She looked at him, a question in her eyes.

Terry stopped, looking down at her, not sure what he was going to say, but knowing he needed to say something. "Thank you. For tonight, I mean. I really enjoyed being with you." He smiled, stopping her before she could speak. "It's been a while since I've done this, and I don't want to rush things. I also don't want to let you go." He watched her carefully, seeking her reaction.

She looked down for a moment, as if thinking things over, then looked up at him. "Terry, I'm having a really great time with you. I can't believe how fast this has happened, and it's got me a little scared." He went to speak, but she touched his chest and continued. "I don't normally do this, and I think you know that, but I don't want the night to end either." He must have had a surprised look on his face, because she smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down to her. "Please?" she whispered in his ear.

He didn't need permission twice. Taking her face between his hands, he brushed his lips gently over hers, kissing her softly over and over. She melted against him, her hands gripping his shoulders, pulling at his jacket. Deepening the kiss, his hands caressed her shoulders, moving down over her body to pull her close. His pulse racing, he slipped his tongue between her lips, slowly tasting her. She gave a little moan low in her throat as he gently caught her lower lip between his teeth, nibbling ever so lightly.

Realizing they'd better head home, Terry reluctantly gave her one last lingering kiss, then moved towards the street, flagging down a passing cab. They fell inside, giggling like teenagers. Jesse snuggled up against him, and he bent his head down, nuzzling her neck, kissing his way down her throat to her collarbone. Giggling softly, Jesse surprised him, throwing a leg over him and moving to straddle his hips. She wrapped her arms around his neck and began kissing and licking him the way he'd done to her a moment before.

Terry groaned at the sweet torture, letting her take charge as she slipped her hands beneath his jacket to caress his chest and shoulders. Glancing over her shoulder, he caught the cabbie watching them in the rear view mirror. He shot the man a "mind your own business" glare, and turned his attention back to Jesse, who was alternately licking, kissing, and nipping the sensitive skin on his neck, her hands lifting his shirt of his jeans.

He dropped his hands to her legs, stroking the soft skin of her thighs as he moved her skirt higher. She moaned and arched against him, wriggling on his lap, driving him out of his mind. He fought for control, wanting only to plunge himself inside her right then and there. Burying his face against her neck, he wrapped his arms around her lower back, holding her against him, feeling her pulse pounding in her throat. Her hands ran through his hair, caressing the nape of his neck, kneading the powerful muscles of his shoulders. Ah, she made him feel so good.

He felt her pull back from him slightly, whispering his name, and he realized they'd arrived at his house. Jesse slipped off of him and opened the door, leaving him to pay the driver and follow her out. He went up behind her, placing his hands on her shoulders as she gazed at his home. She let out a squeal of surprise as he leaned down, one arm going under her knees, the other behind her back, lifting her up into his arms. Terry laughed and started towards the door.

Chapter Four

Terry got to his front door and paused. Shit, a problem. With his arms full of Jesse, who was busy kissing his neck, he couldn't reach his keys. She giggled, realizing his predicament. "Having a little trouble, Terry?"

He kissed her deeply. "Not at all. Just a little technical difficulty, love."

"Here, let me help." Laughing now, she slid one hand down his side, moving it lightly over his pocket before pressing her palm firmly against the bulge in his jeans. "Mmm, Terry. That doesn't feel like your keys to me."

He growled in her ear, arching against her hand. "Keep that up and we won't make it inside."

She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck. "If you let go of my legs, I'll wrap them around your waist, and you can use your free arm to get the keys."

He did just that, opening the door, pausing only long enough to kick it shut behind them as he carried her down the hall to his bedroom. He'd forgotten about the pile of clothes on the floor. Fuck! What a time to be messy. Laying Jesse down on his bed, he distracted her with a long, deep kiss, surreptitiously shifting the dirty clothes underneath the bed with his foot.

Turning his full attention to the woman on his bed, he shifted so that he was kneeling on the floor. There was no sign of hesitation on Jesse's part as she tugged his jacket off, then ran her hands under his shirt, pulling it up and over his head. She giggled as she tossed it across the room, and Terry laughed, sliding his hands to her waist, then under her sweater, as eager to undress her as she was him. Her sweater hit the floor, followed quickly by her bra. He pushed her down on the bed, trailing kisses on her heated skin, pausing when he reached her stomach. He gently touched her belly button, tracing the delicate butterfly he found just above. It wasn't a ring, but a stud, running through the skin, a little jewel showing underneath, like an earring but through her navel. "Did this hurt?"

Jesse sat up just a little, raising herself on her elbow to look at him. "Not at all. It took a while to heal, but it was no trouble. Do you like it?" She sounded almost anxious.

"Mmm, it's pretty. It just surprised me. You surprise me." He kissed the butterfly gently, thinking how it somehow suited her.

Continuing his exploration of her upper body, his hands reached to cup her full, firm breasts. Jesse cried out and arched up under him as his fingers toyed with her hard nipples, alternately caressing one while his tongue teased the other.

Her hands tugged at his shoulders, pulling him up on top of her, her mouth claiming his for a passionate kiss, their tongues thrusting hotly into each other's mouth. Terry wanted this to last but neither of them was slowing down. Tugging at his waist, Jesse's hands went to the fly of his jeans, undoing the button and sliding the zipper down. He felt her hand slip inside his knickers, and moaned into her neck, biting her gently as her fingers wrapped around his hot, hard length. Reaching down, he wrapped his hand around her wrist, tugging her away before he lost all control.

He undid her skirt, hooking his fingers in the material and slipping it down off her legs. Standing up, he kicked off his shoes, taking off his jeans, knickers, and socks while Jesse watched, a playful smile on her face. Terry reached out and pulled off her panties, his breath catching in his throat as his eyes took in her bare flesh. She touched his shoulder, and he dragged his eyes to hers. "Oh, Jess. You're beautiful." He took a ragged breath. "I can't believe it."

She chuckled and took one of his hands in hers, guiding his fingers down to where she should have had hair, but didn't. Her skin was soft and smooth, and he ached unbearably as he touched the soft folds, feeling her wetness. She thrust eagerly against his hand as he slid one finger inside, her body telling him she was ready for him, even as her hands tugged at his shoulders, pulling him up on top of her for a long, sensuous kiss.

"I need you, Terry." She murmured in his ear. "Please, I can't wait. I need you inside me." Her arms wrapped around him, urging him to make love to her.

Terry groaned in response, claiming her lips for a deep, wet kiss as he positioned himself between her legs, his throbbing, rock hard cock sliding into her hot, moist canal. Jesse raised her legs up around his waist, moaning as he thrust inside her. Terry braced himself above her, body tensed, fighting for control. She was so hot and tight, her muscles gripping him as he moved.

Her moans grew louder as he drove into her, and he knew she was feeling the same urgency he was. Moving harder and faster, he felt her arch against him, calling out his name as she came. He looked down at her, watching her, feeling his own body react. Burying his face in her neck, Terry thrust hard deep inside her as his own release claimed him, powerful and intense, crying out her name as he spent himself within her.

He slowly came back to reality, nuzzling her neck. He went to move off of her, but she stopped him with a little groan of protest. "Are you comfortable like this?" He whispered in her ear, feeling her nod her agreement.

They lay like that for a while, Terry supporting his weight with his arms as much as he could. Jesse stirred beneath him, and he slipped off of her, rolling onto his back and pulling her over with him so she half-lay on his chest. She ran a hand lightly over his chest, looking up at him with a sleepy smile. Smiling back at her, he reached out and pulled the comforter over them both. She snuggled against him, using his chest as a pillow, and he wrapped his arms around her. They both slipped off into sleep as the dawn broke over the horizon.

Chapter Five

Terry woke up slowly, very relaxed and content. He stretched, feeling a slight movement next to him. Turning onto his side, he looked over at Jesse, who was curled on her side, still fast asleep. Moving slowly and quietly so he didn't disturb her, he eased out of bed, smiling as he went by their strewn clothing on the way to the bathroom. She had sure surprised him, and that didn't happen often. He had thought her quiet and conservative, and was startled to find her a sensuous and uninhibited lover behind closed doors. He might have thought it was the alcohol, but she hadn't had that much to drink, and neither had he.

Shaking his head, he came out and started across the room. Hearing a soft, feminine chuckle, he looked over to find Jesse watching him, propped up on one elbow, the comforter tucked under her arms. He shot her a questioning glance, his eyebrows raised.

"I can't believe you managed to get out of bed without waking me up." She laughed. "I'm a pretty light sleeper."

Terry sat on the edge of the bed, very aware that he was naked, and very aware that her eyes were watching his every move. He felt his pulse quicken as he reached over and played with a lock of her hair, moving it off of her shoulder with a light touch. She looked so cute, hair tousled from sleep. "I didn't want to disturb you, love. You looked so peaceful."

"Mmm, hmm. I slept really well." Blushing slightly, she looked up at him. "You sure sleep soundly. I was up for a little while earlier, and you didn't move."

Terry chuckled. "That's from years on the job. It's rare that I get a full night's sleep, and it's seldom restful. When I have a chance to sleep soundly, I take advantage of it."

"I suppose I should call Sandy and let her know I'm okay." Jesse looked around for the phone.

"Will she be awake?" Terry lifted the covers and slipped into bed next to her, reaching across her to grab the handset of the cordless phone from the nightstand.

Jesse took it from him. "She should be. Probably wondering where the heck I am." Her brow wrinkled. "Although I think she'll have figured it out. Now if I can just remember the number." Dialing the phone, she was quiet for a moment. "Hi Sandy." A pause. "Yes, I am. Everything's fine." She paused again, listening.

Terry lay back on the pillows, watching her from under half-closed eyes. He slowly slid a hand under the covers, making Jesse jump when he lightly touched her back.

"What did you have in mind?" She half turned towards him, giving him a mock glare as his hand started tracing little patterns on her hip. "Um, I'm not sure. Hold on." Putting her hand over the phone to have some privacy, she laughed at him, swatting at his teasing hand with her free one. "Stop that, I'm trying to talk on the phone here." Her smile widened as he just grinned at her and continued his playful touching. "She wants to know what I'm doing today."

A deep chuckle was his reply as he molded his body to hers, his front to her back. He kissed her neck softly and whispered in her ear. "Tell her you'll be by to pick up a few things. If you want to play tourist, you'll need a dependable, reliable tour guide. I'm volunteering."

Jesse chuckled softly, arching her body back into his as she took her hand off the phone. "Okay, it looks like I'm going to do the tourist thing for a few days at least. I'll need to grab some stuff." Her breathing quickened as Terry began to run his hand over her body, touching her lightly but firmly. "Are you okay with that?" Another pause. "Yeah, I'm sure. Thanks."

Terry decided she wasn't distracted enough. Running his hand up her side, he slid it under her arm and cupped her breast, drawing circles around her nipple, feeling her squirm against him, trying to keep her breathing normal as she kept talking.

"Probably later this afternoon, I think." Another pause, which he filled by working his fingers down her stomach, tracing the butterfly softly, then continuing further down, exploring the soft, bare skin. She shifted, parting her legs, encouraging him, even as she tried to get off the phone. "Okay, sounds good." Biting her lip, she stifled a gasp as his hand found her sensitive center. "I'll see ya later then. Bye." She ended the call, putting the phone down on the nightstand. "You!" She scolded him. Then more softly she sighed, "Oh!"

Terry slipped a finger inside her, touching her slowly and deliberately, teasing and playing. They had plenty of time this morning, and he wanted to do things right this time. Their frenzied coupling last night had been good, and what they both needed at the time, but there was so much more for them to experience, and he wanted to savor all of it.

Pulling the comforter aside, he shifted to the foot of the bed, moving between her knees. He kissed her gently on the insides of her thighs, going from one to the other, moving higher with each kiss. Brushing his face against her leg, he was rewarded with a small moan as the slight stubble on his cheeks rubbed her sensitive skin.

He licked and nibbled until she was begging him to stop torturing her. Always a gentleman, he complied, bringing his hot mouth where she wanted it most. She cried out as his tongue glided between her folds, her hands tangling in his hair as she urged him on. "Oh, Terry." She gasped as he slid first one finger, then two, deep inside her moist, aching core, teasing her sensitive bud with his tongue at the same time. Jesse arched against him, crying out, her inner muscles contracting as she reached a powerful climax.

Fully aroused by feeling her reach her peak, Terry ached to bury himself inside her. Her hands pulled him up on top of her, and in one fluid motion, he covered her with his body, sliding his hard shaft into her still quivering canal. They both groaned, the feeling of his being inside her incredible beyond words. Moving slowly, he drew back, nearly out of her, then slid back in, watching her face as she matched his rhythm. She was so beautiful, face flushed with passion, her eyes meeting his, mirroring the fire burning within him.

Clenching his jaw, Terry concentrated on holding back, wanting it to last this time. He set a strong, steady pace, Jesse arching beneath him, her legs around his waist. He kissed her fiercely, passionately, knowing she could taste herself on his mouth. She cried out as her body reached another pinnacle, convulsing around him, bringing him to the edge. He paused, on the brink, then buried himself deep in her, crying out his pleasure as he exploded, filling her with his essence. Thrusting a few times more, drawing out the sensation, he slowly and gently gathered her in his arms. Kissing her neck and face tenderly, he let his eyes tell her what he was feeling, even as he pulled her tight against him, rolling onto his back and pulling her on top of his chest.

They lay like that for a little while, just resting in each other's arms. Jesse stirred first, brushing her hand over Terry's chest. He glanced down to find her looking at him, and his breath caught in his chest at the expression on her face. Lowering her eyes, she kissed him softly on his shoulder, then rolled off the bed, heading into the bathroom.

He watched her go, wondering if this could possibly be real. Smiling to himself, he slipped off the bed, straightening out the duvet and the pillows. He heard the water run, and crossed over to knock on the door. "Mind if I join you in the shower?"

The door swung open, Jesse grabbing his hand and tugging him inside the already steam filled room. "I thought you'd never ask." Smiling playfully, she stepped into the hot, streaming water.

He came in behind her, teasing her about the water temperature. They laughed and played like kids, kissing in between taking turns washing each other's bodies. Terry couldn't remember the last time he'd had so much fun. For the first time in a long while, he let himself relax. They finally ran out of hot water, Terry braving the steamy room to grab big, soft, fluffy towels for them both.

He dried off, slipped into some football shorts, and went out to the kitchen to get something resembling breakfast started. Rummaging through the contents of the fridge, he grabbed some eggs, bacon, cheese, and milk. He was concentrating on cooking, and didn't hear Jesse come up behind him. She slid her arms around his waist, pressing her body into his back. He turned, smiling at her, nodding towards the food. "This okay?"

"Perfect. Thank you." She leaned up to kiss him softly, then moved over to the side. "Need any help?"

"I've got it, love. Thanks. Can you grab a couple of plates for me? They're in that cabinet there." He nodded towards the side, making a vague gesture towards the indicated area. She brought them over, then went to sit at the table, watching him play chef. He rather liked the idea of cooking for someone. Usually he couldn't be bothered, so this was nice.

They sat at the table and ate, talking quietly about what they were going to do for the next couple of days. Terry thought it would be better if they brought her hired car to his place. That way they wouldn't have to worry about the terrible traffic in London, and they could take off for the longer trips much more easily. She agreed with him, and said she'd be happy to let him take charge. The smile dancing in her eyes told him she was as excited about spending time with him as he was with her.

Deciding that they could relax and walk about town today and tomorrow, Terry wanted to get a move on before it got much later. Jesse shooed him out of the kitchen, doing the dishes while he dressed and called for a taxi. They left for town, Jesse curling up against him in the back of the cab. He hoped this wasn't all just a dream.
