Belated Thanks

Time: two years after POL
Cayman Islands were a sort of heaven on Earth, but Terry couldn't help thinking that he would have preferred being somewhere else. The hotel was wonderful, the pool inviting and the staff close to mind-reading as regards pleasing the guests, but he was restless. After the start of his own business with Dino, his life had changed for good. Matters of life and death didn't change, what had changed had been the direction of the revenues for dealing with those matters and the fact that he could choose when, where and whom to work for. Once he had also worked just for charity, to save a nun held prisoner in a place that didn't figure on maps, or GPS system and even if Dino had nearly clubbed him for that, he was proud of what he had done. She was safe and sound, even though she had managed to return to her mission, just a couple of weeks after her rescue.

A waiter in his mid-twenties went close to him with an envelope on a silver tray and Terry wondered about the sender. From the USA. He thanked the boy and looked warily at the postage stamp.

A small picture slipped off the envelope falling on his thighs. He took it and saw a tiny baby girl smiling to him. She had blue eyes and a small touch of feathery blond hair. Puzzled, he grabbed the letter that was with it.

"Mr. Thorne, the last time we met we hadn't time for a proper thanks to you for what you did for my family and me.

This is Teresa, the name closest to Terrence I could find to suit a baby girl.

Without your help she'd never had born.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Peter Bowman"

Terry read the letter twice to be sure of its meaning. He looked the pic once again, trying to find resemblance with Alice or Peter, but despite what most of people say, it wasn't possible with children so young. He smiled briefly and stuck it into his wallet, near the one of his son. It was time to pay him a visit. England might not be as wonderful as these islands, but the company couldn't have been better.
