The Virtual Nurse

This first story is from an Internet friend who is very dear to me. She lost her husband to Cancer within this last year. Listening to her talk of the Hospice Nurses gave me chills. I know it was these Nurses that got her through this time of need. She will tell you this herself. Her name is Judianne........

When I must leave you for a little while
Please do not grieve and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you through the years
But start out bravely with a gallant smile
And for my sake and in my name
Live on and do all things the same.
Feed not your loneliness on empty days.
But fill each waking hour in useful ways.
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer.
And I, in turn, will comfort you and hold you near.
And never, never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky.

When you must leave us for a little while –
Oh! Grieve we will and shed wild tears.
But hug our sorrow to us through the years?
Nay! Did’st not you teach us always have a smile?
And for your sake and in your name,
Live on we will. But, things the same?
Nay! Loneliness will come by night and day.
But, Try we will, to follow in your way.
To love your God and in that faith, hold fast.
But keep in mind Oh Husband Mine, the Father of my children,
tis no small task you ask.
To reach out – to offer comfort and good cheer.
But you have promised us your presence always near,
And never, never will we be afraid to die,
For you, right by His side, are waiting for us in the sky.
