About My Family

This site deals mainly with the Sheltons and Scarbros of Southern West Virginia. I say Southern West Virginia because I doubt if many people have heard of Rock Creek, Masseyville, or the other small communities situated along Coal River between Beckley and Charleston. In fact I know quite a few Virginians that seem surprised that we're still a state. I don’t really have too much on the Shelton side. My Grandfather, Alvin Lee Shelton, didn’t speak of his past, and what he did speak of is now mostly hearsay I've gathered from talking with my Grandma, Emma, and some of my other relatives. I’ve looked all over for my Great Grandfather (George Shelton). He bounced between North Carolina, Missouri, and possibly even West Virginia. Most of the information I’ve been able to scrounge up is listed in the notes for the appropriate individual, so look there for some good stories. I’ll be adding more to this site as I come across it, so if you don’t see what you need today, check back in a few days. You never know what may pop up.
