We are a Cavalry Reenactor Group located in the scenic hills of Grafton, West Virginia.Our namesake group was formed in Roane county VA and were known as Jackson's Raiders. We focus on regional as well as National history and are available for Living History presentations, as well as encampment and battle settings. As a Reenactor Group we offer participation in any or all of our companies. Including "3rd. West Virginia Cavalry", "The Grafton Guards","Letcher's Guards" and of course the "10th. Virginia Cavalry". A simple search on the Internet such as; (Dis-Mounted Confederate Cavalry)will net enough information to show how Generals and Commanders used the Cavalry dis-mounted in virtually every major campaign. The term does not reflect that at some battles there were more dis-mounted Cavalry than actual infantry present. The library is also a good source of information on the formation and the importance of the United States Cavalry in the Civil War Join us in the planning and eventual realization of (The Grafton/Taylor County Civil War Heritage Days) A proposal was sent to the City of Grafton by the 10th. Virginia Cavalry outlining the importance of Grafton in the Civil war and the need for a re-enactment to commerate the days imediately preceeding the Philippi Races as it is known.
