Here is a rough history of Circle K:
1936- Kiwanis established the "Circle K House" fraternity at Washington State University
1947- The first Circle K organization (similar to present-day groups) was created at Carthage College in Illinois.
1955- Circle K received recognition and a charter from Kiwanis International
1960- West Virginia District Chartered
1970- First club outside North America at the American College of Switzerland
1971- Women allowed to join Circle K
1987- Circle K International is adopted as the formal name of the organization
