One of the Many Streams We Created

Situated in a valley bottom, just a few metres from the river that runs through St.Mawgan down to the coast a mile away, the land was not surprisingly peppered with running water and boggy areas, even in the summer's driest spells. Creating dry areas and channelling the water, both above and below ground, was indeed a challenge, and one that I believe Robert achieved with remarkable success. He built every dry river bed and running stream with such skill, that many visitors have difficulty believing that they have not occurred naturally. Even during the months of extensive rainfall that caused such problems throughout the country last winter, we had no flooding in the garden. That's more than 'remarkable' - it's 'miraculous'!
