THE JEDI COUNCIL
This page is all about the Jedi Council
|
Yoda
By the time of the Battle of Naboo, Yoda was well into his
800's, making him the oldest member of the Jedi Council.
He has visited hundreds of worlds on his own in his
endeavor to understand and appreciate the infinitely
variable nuances of the Force. The venerable Jedi Master is
revered for his wisdom and insight, and prefers careful
contemplation to rash action.
A long-lived Jedi Master, Yoda was the conduit for the
rebirth of the nearly-vanished Jedi Knights. For more than
800 years, the diminutive green being has trained Jedi
Knights in the ways of the Force, but rarely has he faced
such a challenge as the impetuous young Luke Skywalker
Mace Windu
Mace Windu
A senior member of the respected Jedi Council, Mace
Windu now rarely leaves the Jedi Temple. His wisdom and
experience are remarkable, and so his words, softly spoken
within the chambers and hallways of the Temple, bear great
weight throughout the galaxy
Jedi Master Windu regularly confers with Yoda and the ten
other members of the Council on the balance of the Force
and the general affairs of the Jedi Knights. His authority is
as high as that of Master Yoda, which makes his opinion,
during debates, greatly revered.
A lthough nowadays he almost never picks up his
blue-bladed lightsaber to face an enemy in battle, Mace
Windu remains a fearsome warrior with a perfect mastery of
the Jedi fighting techniques.
Ki-Adi Mundi
Taught by Jedi Master Yoda himself, Ki-Adi-Mundi is the
only Jedi Knight to serve on the council. This humanoid from
the utopian world of Cerea possesses a high-domed head
holding a complex binary brain supported by a second
heart. Before the Battle of Naboo, he became embroiled in
a political struggle on Cerea, which lead him to Tatooine
where he uncovered signs of the Trade Federation's
clandestine war preparations.
Adi Gallia
Born to high-ranking Corellian diplomats living on
Coruscant, this beautiful and intuitive Jedi Master is a
female member of an unknown humanoid alien species
Gallia possesses a deep understanding of the Republic's
complex political system, and has carefully developed a
network of contacts and informants throughout the
government, making her one of the Supreme Chancellor's
most valuable intelligence sources. Through her contacts,
Gallia gained knowledge of the Trade Federation's plans to
invade Naboo. She promptly warned Supreme Chancellor
Valorum, who in turn asked the Jedi Council to send
ambassadors to deal with the situation.
Depa Billaba
A new addition to the Jedi Council, Depa Billaba brings an
air of order, culture and perspective to the Council
Chamber. When she was just six months old, Billaba's entire
family was killed by marauding pirates. Mace Windu was
able to save the young Chalactan child, and he immediately
sensed her strong connection to the Force.
On Coruscant, Depa has learned to use her special abilities
for the good of the galaxy. She has embraced the traditional
culture of Chalacta in honor of her slain parents, and as a
result the Jedi Master is particularly attuned to the minds
and personalities of her peers in the Council Chamber.
Eeth Koth
Born in squalor on Nar Shaddaa, the "smuggler's moon"
orbiting the Hutt homeworld of Nal Hutta, the Zabrak Jedi
Master is known for his highly developed willpower and
ability to withstand intense pain. He was recognized as a
Jedi prospect at age four, and was initially considered too
old to be trained, although he later proved himself worthy
after demonstrating extreme mental discipline. Eeth Koth
trained the Jedi hero Shared Hett, who later disappeared to
live among Tatooine's Tusken Raiders.
Even Piell
Standing little more than one meter tall, Jedi Master Even
Piell is nonetheless highly respected for his combat
abilities. Although he is typically contemplative and
reserved, Piell becomes fiercely aggressive when forced
into combat.
During one conflict, Piell single-handedly battled and
defeated seven dangerous terrorists, even after sustaining a
grisly eye injury. Due to his developed code of honor, he
refuses to wear a prosthetic replacement for the lost eye,
and bears the scar as badge of honor -- a reminder that it
was he who survived despite enormous odds.
Oppo Rancisis
As a baby, Oppo Rancisis was offered to the Jedi Order by
his mother, the Blood Monarch of Thisspias, and was
apprenticed to Jedi Master Yaddle. At age 20, he inherited
the title as Monarch of Thisspias when his younger sister
was killed. He declined the role, however, abdicating the
throne in order to serve the entire galaxy among the Jedi
Order.
Rancisis is a master of Malacia, a Jedi technique that
induces a powerful dizziness and nausea in enemies. It is
completely incapacitating like a hammer blow, but does not
cause any lasting physical damage. He has taught the
technique at the Jedi Temple for over two decades, but only
a few other Jedi have come close to mastering the difficult
discipline.
When peaceful negotiations fail, Rancisis ensures that
Jedi-counseled military tactics are cunning and effective
using his artful strategies and battle plans.
Plo Koon
A Kel Dor from Dorin and descendent from a long line of
Jedi, Plo Koon masterfully uses his highly-developed
extrasensory organs to enhance his Jedi mind powers to
extremes.
Plo Koon is legendary for his leadership in the Stark
Hyperspace Wars, during which he took up the Republic
banner after a great Jedi Master was killed. Koon rallied the
disheartened troops to an unlikely and miraculous victory,
and has ever since been a trusted ally to the Republic Army
and Navy as a Jedi Council member.
Plo Koon has fought along side Qui-Gon Jinn on several
occasions, and looked forward to the day his friend might
consider filling one of the Council's short-term positions
Saesee Tinn
Hailing from the wind-beaten moon Iktotch, Jedi Master
Saesee Tiin possesses natural telepathic abilities and an
exceptionally strong connection to the Force. He is well
known for his abilities as a pilot, and is at his best while
any spacecraft.
Saesee Tiin trained under the great Omo Bouri, a Wol
Cabasshite Jedi Master who orchestrated the famed Treaty
of Trammis a century ago. When Master Bouri perished,
Saesee Tiin reinvigorated his Jedi training - with the hope
that he might gain sufficient insight into the Force to
communicate with his vanished master.
Yaddle
Young at only 477, Yaddle is one of the Jedi Council's most
compassionate, balanced and patient members. In any
debate or discussion, she will listen quietly and absorb all
arguments before supplying her characteristically single and
insightful opinion.
Yaddle is head of the Librarian Assembly, a group of Jedi
scholars who maintain the Temple's collection of holocrons,
ancient scrolls, and Sith writings. Her private quarters in the
Jedi Temple are filled from floor to ceiling with thousands of
tiny trinkets. Yaddle has trained dozens of Padawan
learners in her life, including Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis.
With centuries of training behind her, Yaddle is skilled at all
Jedi techniques and is one of few Jedi entrusted with the
dangerous knowledge of Morichro - a forbidden Jedi art that
rapidly slows the body functions of other beings, easily
resulting in death.
Yarael Poof
Quermian Jedi Master Yarael Poof is a sentient
invertebrate being with a long neck and four arms. Like all
members of the Quermian species, his olfactory glands are
located in his hands, and a second brain is positioned in his
chest. Yarael Poof is known to be a consummate artist of
Jedi mind tricks, including the ability to quickly (and
nonviolently) subdue opponents by using the Force to
conjure images of whatever that opponent fears the most.
