------------========| SONSHINE CHIT CHAT |========-----------
Finally, at last, the very long awaited issue of Sonshine News. Thank y'all for being sooo patient with me. I have gotten so many nice emails from different folks wanting to know when I was going to publish the next one. Those emails gave me such a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart.
You will notice a couple of changes in Sonshine News and I hope that you will enjoy them. Each section is going to feature just a site or two. Some people said that they loved Sonshine News, but at times, they didn't have a chance to go thru all the links -- so I am making it easier for them (and me).
There are some new sections in Sonshine News -- Blast From The Past which features history, Celebrate! which features holidays, "Site" Seeing which features a location or travel site, and Crafter's Corner which features a craft. I'd like to do a section about educational sites, but I can't think of a catchy title for it yet, but as soon as I come up with one, it will be added. Any suggestions for a title? Just let me know by emailing me at wvhaze@aol.com .
When can you expect Sonshine News? I am determined now to put it out on the 1st and 15th of each month. I will "test the waters" and see how this time schedule works out, and if I find I have to change it for any reason I will let y'all know .
Enjoy and let me know how you liked this issue. :-)

Fox Diana's Den
Joan's offer to get me a glass of mint ice tea while I visited her site makes her a prefect hostess. I love a site that makes me feel welcome and right at home. :-)
Joan shares some of her memories in her site. Wonderful ones of holidays memories that she does with her family. I am impressed what she gives away to children for Halloween. I am not telling what she does, you just have to find it on the holiday page for October. :-)~~~~
Some of her memories are not great, like being a victim of domestic abuse. She does give a warning if you are under eighteen or easily offended do not read any farther on that page.
Make sure to check out her optical illusion's page. It was very fun looking at them.

Donate a Phone
You can donate your used wireless phone to support Donate a Phone's CALL to PROTECT, which aids in the fight against domestic violence. Wireless phones are reprogrammed with emergency phone numbers and redistributed free of charge to victims in need. They can use ANY phone, even one that is old and doesn't work to benefit victims of domestic violence. That way, victims can easily make an emergency call that could save their lives. Donation information is available on the site

National Grandparents Day September 9, 2001
National Grandparents Day originated with Marian McQuade, a housewife in Fayette County, West Virginia. Her primary motivation was to champion the cause of lonely elderly in nursing homes. She also hoped to persuade grandchildren to tap the wisdom and heritage their grandparents could provide. President Jimmy Carter in 1978, proclaimed that National Grandparents Day would be celebrated every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day.

America's West
A great site of the history and development of the American West, from the frontier and pioneer days of the Wild West, to today's modern West. You can learn about Cowboys, Indians, Native Americans, Pioneers, Trappers, Scouts, Gunslingers, Outlaws, etc. The list goes on for more interests in Wild West history.

"Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits, and their names were Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail and Peter." This is the introduction to one of the best-loved children's stories of all time -- "The Tale of Peter Rabbit". This is a site to enjoy with the kiddies. You will love how they use Beatrix Potter's artwork in the site. There are interactive games, greeting cards, and video clips to view. You will find yourself clinking on every link in the site.

Christmas Craft Projects
Good heavens, it's the end of summer and Sonshine News is thinking about Christmas already. It's never too early to start making goodies for Christmas when you are a crafter. I want to try and make the Apple Cinnamon Wreath for my front door.

Chefmom
While looking for some new camping recipes for a recent trip, I came across this site. Lots of cooking goodies here. You can find fun and useful cooking tools such as their tips database, an interactive shopping list and how-to guides. One of the recipes that I used on our camping trip was Sausage on a Stick in the Camping Breakfasts section. My guys had a blast cooking them over the campfire.

DOWNLOADS:
akFontViewer
The Character Map in Windows is used to see what a font looks like on your puter, but it does not allow you to view what the fonts look enlarged or compare them all at once. akFontViewer is a utility that lets you view samples of all your installed fonts in Windows. It can show a list of fonts with each font rendered in its own typeface. Also a window much like a Character Map -- which is always active -- shows you which fonts have full character sets and which don't. Other features enable you to define a sample text string, and to check off attributes you'd like to display -- such as bold, italic, underline, and strikeout. I use this program all the time to view what font I might like to use for a scrapbooking page toppers.
