------------========| SONSHINE CHIT CHAT |========-----------

Dear friends, my family and I wish the best for you during this holiday season.

During the month of November, I was debating if I should stop publishing Sonshine News, but I received so many nice emails from my readers telling me how much they love Sonshine News.

I started Sonshine News during a sad period in my life. My daughter just had become an angel, and I needed something to do to help me with my grief by being busy--thus it was Sonshine News. I still have a small hole in my heart that will never heal because of her death, but my pain has lessened. I want to be able to spend more time with my family and less with my puter. Sonshine Joey needs a mother and not a puter addict. :-) I have came up with a compromise that I hope that you will like -- I am going to just publish Sonshine News just the first and third weekends of each month.

I have two special web pages that I would like to share with you.

Jesus Is the Reason
http://www.angelfire.com/wv/sonshinenews/reason.html
Here is my family's Christmas web card to you. :-)

Fun Christmas Project To Do With The Kiddies
http://www.angelfire.com/wv/frugalsahm/shirt.html
Here is a fun one to do with the kiddies for Christmas. A Rudolph sweatshirt. It is really fun and easy to make. The model on the page is my very own Sonshine Joey. :-)

Well 'nuff of my chit chat, on to the links. :-)

------------========| MY PICK OF THE WEEK |========-----------

A Single Rose Inspirational Links
http://www.geocities.com/sgrive/index.html

One thing that I love to do is pass on inspiration links. This site has so many wonderful links to visit. Because of that, I am not doing the For Inspiration section in Sonshine News this week. I hope that you will be busy visiting the selections on here. :-)

------------========| GOOD DEED ON THE WEB |========-----------
Dear friends,

This is a different sort of Good Deed on the Web then I normally do. Usually I feature a website; however, one of my email pals is having a very rough time and I can't think of a better way to help her out then by help from my friends of Sonshine News. I have known Darlene for a long time on the net and she is a sweetie. We have our angels in heaven playing together. I asked Darlene's permission to pass along some information about her to my readers.

Darlene had a rather nasty fall recently and fractured her left ankle.   She not only fractured her left ankle but tore all the ligaments in her foot.   Twenty-four years ago, she lost her right leg due to a very rare form of bone cancer.   So her one and only foot is in a cast for 6 weeks.

Her hubby had to take an unpaid medical leave of absence to be able to care for the family.   Her hubby is the only bread winner for their family of 6.   So they are currently receiving no income. They have four small children.   The oldest Amanda is 13,   Kayla is 7, little Victoria is 3 and last but not least is little baby Christopher who is almost 5 months.

Just to let you know, she has contacted some local government offices for some support, but things have not gone the best so far for her on that route.

I have two requests.

1. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

2. Would you like to mail a Christmas care package for her family? If you would like to help out, I can give you her mailing address if you send me a request by email. Just put Family in the subject area and email me at wvhaze@aol.com.

She could use clothing for the children if you like to have an idea of what to send. Christopher is a size 6-9 months.   Victoria is a size 4,   Kayla is  size 7-8, Amanda is a size 16. I am sure she would appreciate anything to help out. :-)

I also will be more then happy to forward any emails you wish to send her.

Smiles,
Deneen

Optical illusions
http://www.northamptoneye.com/eyefun.htm
It's funny how your eyes view optical illusions. Couple of goodies to trick your eyes here.

Dr. Seuss Went to War
http://orpheus.ucsd.edu/speccoll/dspolitic/
Dr. Seuss as a political cartoonist? For two years, 1941-1943, he was the chief editorial cartoonist for the New York newspaper PM (1940-1948), and for that journal he drew over 400 editorial cartoons. Very fascinating look at history on this site.

Pioneer Life
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/6470/index.html
This site mixes history and vittles. :-) It's a very nice trip back to Pioneer days.

The Language of Flowers
http://www.whoohoo.net/flowermeans/index.htm
Flowers have their own unique and wonderful language depending on the flower. For example, did you know that the Honeysuckle means generous and devoted affection or that Daisies mean innocence? This is a very nice way to find out when you send flowers to someone, that you can give a lil extra touch by sending flowers with meanings.

Diamond Mine
http://www.popcap.com/games/diamondmine/diamondmine.php?siteid=poppcap
Warning-this game is addicting. You have to swap any two adjacent gems to create rows of 3 or more of the same type.

Earth Calendar
http://www.earthcalendar.net/
Everyday is a holiday somewhere in the world. Use this link to see what is being celebrated today. :-)

Virtual Body
http://www.ehc.com/vbody.asp
Very neat interactive site about your body. This is one to share with the kiddies as well.

Play free games and win Prize Bucks™ based on your score. Lots of different gaming goodies to have fun. I like the Quiz Show and WordMaster games.

Bob Denver's Gilligan Fan Club

This is for the lovers of classic comedy television. Bob Denver of Gilligan's Island has his very own web site. Lots of great photos and info about the show.

Once again, I am being lazy, but my web buddy Rexanne always has a great holiday page. Make sure to check it out and have fun.

------------========| PUTER STUFF |========-----------

Navigator
http://www.nytimes.com/learning/general/navigator/index.html
Navigator is the home page used by the newsroom of The New York Times for forays into the Web. Its primary intent was to give reporters and editors new to the Web a solid starting point for a wide range of journalistic functions without forcing all of them to spend time wandering around blindly to find a useful set of links of their own. Its secondary purpose was to show people that there's a lot of fun and useful stuff going on out there.

Christmas is in the air and our attentions turn to gift-giving and spending time with loved ones. What better way to combine the two than giving a gift from the kitchen using something as common as a jar? Try some of these wonderful ideas to have a more meaningful and frugal holiday season.
