------------========| SONSHINE CHIT CHAT |========-----------

Howdy to all. I have received so many emails this week asking me when the next issue of Sonshine News was coming out. The last issue was back in August. I am so sorry about that. I had some major puter problems with my AOL 4.0 program. I know what some of you are thinking--"there is AOL 5.0". I used AOL 4.0 for my web pages because of the publishing program that was on it. I just started to have problems with AOL 4.0 in August with a damaged main index file. So I was trying to get all past issues of Sonshine News on a different site and transfer my bookmarks before AOL 4.0 completely bit the dust. Well, in the middle of last week, I had just changed my home page and then it happened, AOL 4.0 crashed on me. Believe me, I am going WHEW! because I got the main web page changed just in the nick of time. Right now, I am not sure if I will be ever able to go back and update the main page. :-(

Anyway, I do have some archives done. You can find them here:
Sonshine News Archives

http://www.angelfire.com/wv/sonshinenews/index.html
As of this date, I have only the first twenty issues and this issue #47 on that page. I went ahead and made the links for the other issues, but they are not on there yet. You will get a missing page links until I am able get them done.

Well 'nuff of my chit chat, on to the links. :-)

------------========| WHAT'S COOKING ON THE WEB |========-----------
By Alice

This week I am cheating...somewhat. I have recently developed an interest in kitchen concoctions. What I mean by that are things like soaps, lotions, etc. I am not really too far from cooking as you do cook these things in the kitchen. Some of my fondest memories of my late grandma are helping her make homemade soap in her kitchen. Unfortunately, I was too young and stupid to pay much attention and I don't remember how she did it. Now she is gone and I am interested in making it. Therefore, allow me to share some online knowledge with you concerning this different kind of cooking. This is a great idea for Christmas!

Current Procedures and Tips
http://users.silverlink.net/~timer/soapproc.html
This is one of the best websites I have found for the beginning soapmaker. It starts out with precise instructions and has many links off of it to find great all-vegetable and castille soap recipes. Highly recommended.

Homemade Hand Lotion
http://www.stretcher.com/stories/980108b.cfm
Now we turn our attention briefly to lotion making. This is the Dollar Stretcher website. The link will take you specifically to the lotion making, however there are many other useful sections to this site. Check it out!

Soapmaking: free soap recipes & directions.
http://hometown.aol.com/oelaineo/soapmaking.html
Back to soap making. You will find 70 tried and true soap recipes here in "Lather Land."

How To Make Soap
http://www.fragrant.demon.co.uk/makesoap.html
This is an instructional site from the lady who has "Lather Land." It is just another person's views on how to make soap and instructions.

Glycerin soap making
http://www.conknet.com/~p_bliss/glycerin.htm
Another popular type of soap is glycerin soaps. They are very good complexion soaps and versatile. This site will instruct you on the basics of making this soap.

Soap and Related Recipes
http://www.ziggurat.org/soap/recipes.html
Now this site is loaded with neat stuff! They not only have soap recipes, but bath goodies, eye gels, shampoos, bath salts, and perfumes. I can't wait to try these out!

www.somerset-co.com recipes
http://www.somerset-co.com/dir/frameset-recipes.html
This site has free cosmetic recipes including lotions, eye gels, and one I found interesting was chest rub for when you have a cold. You can purchase many ingredients here at the Somerset Company if you cannot find them locally.

Rainbow Meadow Inc.
http://www.rainbowmeadow.com/soapdirectory.html
Rainbow Meadow, Inc. is in the business of selling essential oils and other ingredients to make soaps, candles, etc. However, this link takes you directly to the soap making section. It offers recipes, tips, and many other useful pointers. This is also nice in case you need a source for some ingredients.

Wildroots.com
http://www.wildroots.com/cosmetic.html
From Stony Mountain Botanicals. You can use natural ingredients to create your own cosmetics.

betterbasics.com
http://www.betterbasics.com/solutions/bodycare.html
I saved one of my favorites for last. This is the Betterbasics Website and the link above will take you to the "Solutions" section. This particular site is bodycare recipes, however you can click on the tabs at the top of the page to get recipes for pets, pests, gardening, and cleaning. Very handy site.

Alice :-)

------------========| GREAT FREEBIES AND DEALS |========-----------

Please if the site ask how you heard about their site, please put a friend or just surf in. If you put down Sonshine News, you might not get them. If you have an opportunity, say "thank you" in a comment field or email message. Only order freebies that you have an interest. Don't just send for it because it is free. If there is a restriction on who can order, only order it if you qualify. Honor any requests such as "one per household." Use a free internet address service so that you will not get spam. Yahoo.com or hotmail.com is an excellent one to use just for freebies sites.
Qool Auctions
http://www.qool.com/register/?RefMemberName=wvhaze
Qool is an auction site with a twist. You do not need money to bid on items. You can get "qool coins" to bid with by simply going to their site each day and bidding ten times on different items. The easy way to bid is find a low price auction and bid up just one qool coin at a time. I am going to tell you that this is a referral link for me and I will get qool coins if you join. I have tested this site and wanted to make sure it was legit before passing it to you. So far the goodies that I have gotten from this site is a tee-shirt, two different books, a magazine subscription, a video and lots of baseball cards for Sonshine. www.getcat.com
www.getcat.com
This is a neat puter gadget. Just got my Cue:Cat. You can get it free from Radio Shack or order it from the net for s/h. What the Cue:Cat does is allow you to scan a bar code or UPC code off a product and go to that's product's site. Some magazines also have the bar code so if you want to read more on the article it can take you to the site.
