Game 1

The Lakers did not win this game; the Rockets lost it. Two keys plays down the stretch were not carried out.
The first disturbes me more than the other. When Scottie Pippen (who has been complaining all year about his lack of offensive involvement) lost the ball on a very important play, he showed us the reason why he hasn't been getting the numbers which he desires. Scottie Pippen is the typical pro basketball player these days. He rejoices with the team in the good times, yet when trouble arrives he is the first to run. I am ashamed to think that we spent millions of dollars for a player who can obviously not compete to his potential without Michael Jordan.
The second play was a blunder all around. As much as Rudy T. has faith in his rookie players, he has so much offensive talent on his team that it seems to be a waste to give the rookie the ball for the most crucial play. Everyone can tell clear as day (except for the refs) that Shaq slapped Mobley's wrist as he was going up toward the basket. Perhaps if a veteran had been the one with the ball, the foul would have been called. As much as I hate it the refs in this league do give the veterans more calls than the rookies. It is a shame the Rockets lost and as much as the refs should share partial blame, the Rockets could have pulled this one out.
