After several members expressed interest in this municipal project, the club decided to use the idea for a club project.
All the doors were built in 1" scale as a vignette to stand alone.
This first photo shows how Marilyn Boger extended her porch in front of the door so she would have room to decorate it with the changing of the seasons or holidays. She had a spring wreath on the door and flowers on the porch. She has plans to put hers someplace near her front door.

In this photo, you can see that Janet Larsen raised her porch up. This created an open box from the back side to conceal the mechanics for the door bell. Yes, the door bell actually works. She constructed her door from scraps of wood and made the window look like leaded glass. The door plaque reads: Dr. Dragon.

As this photo shows, Terri Burnham "went outside the box". Instead of building a door vignette, she turned a small metal bird cage into a room for her collection of fairies. Some were having a picnic and a couple were hanging from the sides of the cage to give the appearance of flying around.
Another club member, Jeanine Greenlee planted shrubs on each side of her door. She planned to set hers in a window near her own front door. (Vicki hopes to get a photo of Jeanine's project too so check back in a week or two.)
Each of the club members had special places in mind for displaying their doors in their own home.
Vicki also shared with us that at their July meeting, April Gill is going to demonstrate air dry porcelain clay for our club members. (And don't we all wish we could be there for that!!)
Thanks so much, Vicki, for such a great submission to the A-3 website!
