More updates to come soon. In 2002, NCVFD responded to 436 emergencies, making company history. We have 8 apparatus; 1 engine, 2 engine/tankers, 1 tanker, 1 air cascade, 1 brush truck and 1 rapid response unit, and 1 utility. NCVFD responds to an area of about 50-75 square miles and we proudly protect about 5000 people. This small town of New Creek is steadily growing, we now have a new high school, and a new Super Wal-Mart to cover in our town limits. We also cover a large lumber mill, and many growing housing developments.
New Creek VFD' s history is short but is steadily advancing. We have come from a one bay chicken house to a 4 bay station capable of housing 7 units. Our first fire truck was donated to us from Beryl, WV Fire Department back around 1962, then in 1968 we purchased our own new fire engine, the cost was then around $3,000. Twenty senven years later we purchased a new engine with a cost of around $155,000. Sometime about 10 years ago NCVFD only ran about 40 calls a year, in 1999 we responded to 362. Things continue to improve for NCVFD, and hopefully it will go one!
